lowering bow poundage question?

Ok i got a few questions for you guys? I currently shoot a Mathews DXT maxed out at 70lbs with a 28in draw. I can shoot pretty good groups all the way out to 50 yards but I'm kinda wanting to decrease the poundage just a bit so I can possible hold the pin just a little bit steadier and tighten my groups even more, do you guys think this would help? And if I lower the weight just a little am I going to be sacrificing alot like penetration, or FPS or would it really matter that much?

not unless your shooting big expandables i dont think penetration will be a problem. FPS? people kill big game with long bows so no. depending on how much you drop you might need a different spine arrow, but that probably if you drop 5 + lbs.

If you are pulling 70 and want to lower, I would go about 65. You are not going to lose very much fps. Not even enough to matter. You will still get plenty of penetration. Plus you will be able to draw back easier when hunting. You may have an awkward sitting down shot when you would need a little less poundage. I shoot sitting down when I hunt and I went from 70 to 65. The 5 pounds made a big difference for me. I lost hardly any speed and no penetration.

I started with a 45 pouund recurve, got pass throughs...

In the 70s I went to a 50 pound Bear Whitetail, got pass throughs...

My current set up is a 20 some year old Mountaineer set at 64 pounds...Still get pass throughs...
