Avoiding freezer burn after the bow kill?

I need to get a freezer to store my processed game and thought I'd ask you what works best to preserve the meat to minimize freezer burn, degradation, a frost free or manual defrost freezer. Or, does it matter which one?

Frost free seems most popular in the stores but i wonder if the cycling associated w/ the defrost will harm the meat over the course of a year or two. Historically, i have had a manual defrost but it's time to replace and wanted opinions, pls.

from what i understand the manual defrost would be the best choice. that is the way i went.

I don't think it matters. Just seal the meat well. I will either double wrap with freezer plastic and freezer bags or i put it in vacum sealer. Both i can get easily 1 1/2 - 2 years or more. Although i havn't had meat last that long before getting eaten
