I have picture of six different deer that size from this year. 2 are ten points, one is a 9, and three are 8' s. I' d have to say, I would' nt pass on any of them. I figure if there are that many, why not just take one. If I get a chance at one of them, and take it, I' ll hold out for that one in a life timer!!!!

THAT' S A STUD 2 1/2 YR OLD....Do you know what that deer will do when he' s mature!

He' s a wonderful specimen

RE: Nice Eight Pointer...Borderline Shooter.

that is a very close to that majic 125, but as tomlin said, this buck shows excelent potential, as a 3, and 4 year old, if your area seems to be holding better, what
have you got to lose, hold out, but in many areas of whitetail country, that P&Y
buck is as good as it gets, and would make anybody a happy hunter:D

RE: Nice Eight Pointer...Borderline Shooter.

Just think JamesVee...you could tag him as an 8pt four or five year old....That scores in the 140-150s. Now that is a deer!!!!

That bad boy would be hard to pass up where we hunt. Wonder what his daddy looks like!!! We have a lot of pressure around here so if we let one pass like that someone else is sure to shoot him. If you have a good secluded area I would take the advice and let him mature a little, he will be one heck of a buck!!!!

RE: Nice Eight Pointer...Borderline Shooter.

He would be a tough one to pass. I' ve been watching a 16" 14 point with him that should go into the 130' s as well as a very nice 18" -20" 11 (maybe 12 now) point. Believe me, that 11 pointer is first on my list!

I" m using that cheap stealth cam. Works great for me.

James that is a nice 2.5 year old:D

Very similar to the first eight I shot last year - thin but nice looking tines and shape.

I would guess 115 tops and more likely 110.

Good look with the big-un:D

Cool, I just hung a stealth cam sunday. checked it today but it still says 3 on the exposure LCD so I spread a bit more corn out there.

Nice looking buck! I love your picture.

I mean no harm but he has a ways to go before he would make P&Y. I would say he is 10 inches or more from P&Y and that is talking gross. Just goes to show how good a 125 inch (net) buck is.

Still a very nice buck! One to be very proud of. :)

I have my doubts that he' s barely over 100 inches, damn nice by all means tho....give him a year or two, hard to do when he' s standing broadside.

RE: Nice Eight Pointer...Borderline Shooter.

I' d have to say he' s south of the border too. Where your from, I' d also say he could just be a 1.5 yr. old. Looks like he has some ear outside the beam. 12-13" spread, 14 tops.

RE: Nice Eight Pointer...Borderline Shooter.

Thanks for the compliments on the pic and the buck, I appreciate it. I know a picture is worth a thousand words but I' ve watched this deer a number of times. He doesn' t appear to be very wide, as nub point out, but he' s about 16" .
Right Left
Beams: 20 20
G1 4 4
G2 8.5 8.5
G3 5.5 5.5
H1 3.5 3.5
H2 3.5 3.5
H3 3 3

Total 48 48

SubTotal 96
Spread 16

Final Total 112

Those halves may or may not help! haha[&:]

I think James Vee' s estimate is going to be pretty close to the actual score. That' s a nice buck, but he' s going to be a lot nicer if he' s allowed to live another year or three. He' ll be a monster by then. I' d hold out for the other big one . . . at least for the early season.

That is a great looking buck. I really need to get a game cam to see some of the deer I' m missing in my area.

RE: Nice Eight Pointer...Borderline Shooter.

Definitely not even close to P&Y, but a very nice buck none the less. I' d have to think long and hard about taking him. If I was hunting a bigger buck that I knew was in the area, I' d pass, if not, I think I' d take him. A lot of guys are saying pass and wait until next year. Odds are you won' t see that buck again after this year. I can' t tell how many 100-120 class deer I' ve let go hoping to see again the next year, it never happens. When they reach that 3 1/2 yrs and up mark, they become a completely different animal.

I agree that is a young buck, but seeing as I have not taken a buck with a bow yet, I would be ecstatic to stick him!

RE: Nice Eight Pointer...Borderline Shooter.

That is a young buck.If it was early in the season I would rather shoot a mature doe first. But that dont mean I would put anyone down for shooting it. Just my choice. You can tell by the body and bone structure that ia a 2 !/2 year old. I do have to disagree on the rough score though. Not enough mass to get near a 125. I would say 100 to 108. night pics always make the antlers to appear bigger.submitted with respect
