Bowtech Order! Wow!

So I just wanted to post this so that i could voice my frustration with Bowtech archery. I placed an order for a Bowtech Assassin on Dec. 3 and it is now Jan 18. What the hell is taking so long it's a little ridiculous if you ask me. Now i did order a left hand model so i can see how that might take a bit longer but 47 days! Thats unbelievable. I mean don't get me wrong i really love the bow and i still want it but it is getting a bit silly.

So my question to all of you is has anyone ordered a Bowtech product recently? What was it? How long did it take? Are you happy with the product?

Krypt Keeper 01-18-2012 07:27 AM

Have you called bowtech? Have they charged you for it already?

I was also looking at the assassin in left hand but local shop sold it.

Might be behind with the holidays and ATA show but 47 days is a bit much.

BTAssassin 01-18-2012 04:43 PM

Wll get this. I talked to the archery shop in that special ordered it for me. They called bowtech and bowtech told them that at the beginning of the week they were going to be shipping the 2012 collection out. Soooo they a going to send my bow with them.

Now I don't know about anyone else but you would think that they would send it sooner. Not just wait for something else going my way. I don't know seems like a ****ty way to do business to me.

Well, on that note. I will say I love the bow and still am excited to get. I hear it's a great bow and it's my first!

Ben / PA 01-18-2012 06:30 PM

I am quite certain that what you experienced is a lot more to do with your shop and their rep than Bowtech as a company.

Glad it got resolved. Enjoy your new bow.

Raxxmaster 01-18-2012 10:22 PM

Your complaining about a 47 day wait? I've waited 8 weeks for several Hoyts. A special order from any company is pretty quick if your getting it next week.

GMMAT 01-20-2012 04:34 AM

I'm quite certain 47days is ridiculous.

BTAssassin 01-20-2012 06:28 AM

Ya I agree i mean it's not the most expensive bow that they make but still. I am going to call today at noon and see if it has come in yet. But with my luck probably not. . . 49 DAYS AND COUNTING

Raxxmaster 01-20-2012 01:36 PM

I'm quite certain that it may be ridiculous but it's certainly the norm. Found this AT thread, I don't care what bow you order, seems guys have said they are waiting on left handed models.

http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1670334

PSE is out 6-8 week on right handed bows, Hoyt was over 60 and the order was cancelled on a left handed bow.

bowdaddy1964 01-20-2012 04:15 PM

Bowtech only makes a lefty run on their line AFTER the righty's. It takes a bit longer to get orders back if you have placed one with a certian color, or as in your case left hand. You should be overjoyed that its coming this soon.

Ben / PA 01-21-2012 03:57 AM

IMO, if the shop followed the correct procedure, it's pretty hard to be disappointed. When I go to my shop and tell them I want a Bowtech XXXX, they call and check price and availability. I've waited 2 months, I've waited 3 days, but it's usually pretty close to what they say.

47 days past a promised date IS ridiculous, but given the bow, 47 days from time of order might not be.

BTAssassin 01-21-2012 04:12 AM

I've been watching some stuff on YouTube about the bowtech factory and it looks like a small operation. Which I recommend t anyone to take a look even if it's not the brand you own. So I guess it's a bit understandable that things are taking a bit longer. Plus i think it's kind of a good thing to have a small factory like that making a bow for you, it almost makes it a bit more custom. Plus in this day it's great to buy something made in AMERICA the way things should be.

BTAssassin 01-26-2012 03:43 AM

Just an update on the BowTech Assassin. 55 DAYS AND COUNTING. Still they don't know when it is coming in. They keep telling me to call back tomorrow, call back tomorrow and its getting ridiculous. I'm going to call today around 3 and of course it probably won't be there. But i must say that it is a poor way to do business i would want a definite answer for my customer. Which would mean a little bit of leg work calling BowTech and getting some information such as a tracking # ! ! ! I mean this is the 21st century right?

Wow does it sound like I'm agrivated here or what.

I think it's just that it is my first bow and that's what makes the wait even harder. Had i already owned a bow it probably wouldn't feel the same way.

Ben / PA 01-26-2012 03:47 PM

Did you shop give you an expected arrival date when you ordered it?

What have does the rep (person that your shop should be in contact with) have to say?

BTAssassin 01-27-2012 09:42 AM

Update on the BowTech order. Still not Innnnnnnnnnn! I called yesterday and they said that because of the holiday and the ATA show falling right around the same time that that has slowed their production down.

So i said ok keep me posted this is getting a little stupid tho. I mean i was almost going to just cancel my order and go down and buy a ****in hoyt and be done ya it would be more money but i don't care. I want to start practicing.

So here's some back story on all of this. My old lady bought the Assassin for me for christmas and we ordered it December 3rd she payed for it so when i sent her a text and said that it wasn't in yet she just about had a heart attack.

So with out my knowledge she calls the archery shop that we bought it from. (Mind you i live in Massachusetts and archery is not the most popular past time so there is only one shop thats a good shop that i can buy my bow at and that's in NH where i bought it. ) And she must of put the fear of god into them or something because we got some real answers now.

She called the shop and said that it was a big expense and that we want to know exactly where it is and if you can't tell me then cancel the order. In as nice a way as possible. So they responded saying that they would call bowtech and let her know back in a few minutes. They called back and bowtech said that they are behind schedule on the left hand models and that the righty's along with the 2012 shipment for the archery shop shipped the wednesday that just past and that mine was shipping out friday (today). Sooooo long story short i should be getting it before the end of next week.

Now that's great atleast i know when it is coming. I didn't particularly want her being pain in the ass to the shop because like i said it is the only one around. But on the other end as far as BowTech goes. . . They should be over nighting this thing to me why should i be waiting if the bow is completed, so that they can save money sending all of the left hand models together? Bad Bad Business practice. Had the bow been shipped within the given time frame then i wouldn't say over night it but where it will be going on nine weeks i think it should be. Just as a nice gesture to a paying customer. And from what i see most people tend to stick with one brand their whole life so you'd think they'd really be trying to keep me.

Ben / PA 01-27-2012 12:00 PM

Personally, I think your shop is lacking. Paid in full before taking delivery? No expected date? Sounds like that are pretty small time. Hope you get it, but understand that Bowtech itself likely doesn't even know that they have disappointed you. The shop and or the rep should be to blame for not following up or getting more info. A shop's only as good as the rep they have. I know there's a terrible rep in some of the Northeast who routinely pads orders and lets older bows off shipments to try to get sales on new line bows. It sucks, but he must have dirty pictures of higher ups or something.

RidgeFACTOR 01-27-2012 01:19 PM

Should have saved the time and gotten a MATHEWS....lol

bigbulls 01-27-2012 05:45 PM

BTAssassin, I can tell you that Bowtech has left handed assassins in stock. Nothing about the assassin has changed from 2011 to 2012 so there is no reason in the world that Bowtech wouldn't be able to ship a left handed assassin pretty quick, especially if the shop placed the order at the beginning of December. I ordered plenty of bows from Bowtech in December and I had no problem getting them delivered all the way to Florida.

I think you have been getting the run around from your shop big time. Especially considering your wife was able to call and magically the bow is being shipped today?????????

Ben / PA 01-27-2012 05:50 PM

Thank you bigbulls. Something's off here.

BTAssassin 01-28-2012 02:13 PM

Ya unfortunately I think so too. Like I said though its the only archery shop around and I kinda need them to show me the basics, plus they have an indoor range nd its winter. But still once I learn I won't be getting much there.

BTAssassin 01-30-2012 03:40 AM

60 Days and Counting! Still nothing they say it will be in by Friday but they have also been saying that since two weeks ago. I've decided that if it aint there by friday i'm taking my money back and i'll go find one some place else. I'm starting to get pissed. But hopefully none of that will be necissary and it will come in sooner than friday.

Kybuckhunter 01-30-2012 04:40 AM

I would walk in today and demand my money back. They are giving you the run around and playing you for a sucker. Who knows, the guy may have taken the money and went gambling with it or paid some creditors that were breathing down his neck. He seems to be buying time.

I would not wait another day. If you can't get the money back something is bad wrong. Go back and see how they dance if you tell them you want the money.

Whitetailaddict13 01-30-2012 09:34 AM

Tell them your going Hoyt or Mathews, and you want your money back. Enough is enough, that's a lot of money spent to be jerked around like you seem to have been.

With all the trouble you've been going through, the owner of your shop should have paid for overnight shipping. Some people just don't know about smart business.

BTAssassin 01-31-2012 05:29 PM

Ya it seems like they're acting like everything is out of their control

BTAssassin 02-01-2012 10:15 AM

Still waiting it's Wednesday and the shop still hasn't called me but it's hump day so it's all down hill from here. And if they don't call by Friday then I'll be going there to get my money so if anyone knows a good shop around MA/NH i may be in the market. Unfortunately.

Also called Bowtech corporate to see what they had to say and they said that it did seem to be a bit long for the bow even though it was a left handed model which does tend to take a bit longer. Also BowTech does not ship until the build up a bit of an inventory on a particular model ie if they only have 50 left hand assassins they will wait until they have 1,000 to ship. The customer service rep said that if Friday 2/3/12 the bow does not come in definately give us (BowTech) a call back and they will sort it out for me. I also asked him if he could look at what the shop ordered and when but he could not access that information probably something to do with privacy policies. I was just curious to see if the they flubbed up and forgot to order the bow for like two weeks or something.

donald54 02-06-2012 07:05 AM

intresting

BTAssassin 02-06-2012 07:15 AM

Ok. So here is an update on the whole situation as I'm sure all of you are just as sick of hearing about this situation as I am.

Friday 2/3/12 I called the place i bought it at as they said that it would be in Thurs/Fri I figured i'd just wait until friday and then call. I speak to the owner of the shop and ask him if my bow is in, Bowtech Assassin. He replies with yup i'm standing here lookin at it right now. Your name is Joe Blow? I'm like no thats not my name its Nick he's like oh what were you waiting for? So now i'm trying to stay calm. BOWTECH ASSASSIN LH CAMO. He says oh no i'm sorry that hasn't come in yet how long have you been waiting? ahh 8 weeks!!! He's like oh jeez thats a long time let me get on the horn and call my Rep and i'll get back to you in half hour. So i said to him ok listen. I'm done waitin for this thing so when you call me back if you don't have the bow in your hands I either want my money back and i'll take my business elsewhere. He says no problem i will do that but i don't want to lose a good customer. Let me call Bowtech and see whats up.

So i furiously hang up with him and decide that i'm going to call Bowtech corporate and see if i can get some more information out of them. Spoke to an extremely helpful/knowledgeable guy that went into the computer for me and said that the order had been placed and it actually shipped out yesterday 2/2. So i reluctantly said ok then i guess i'll just wait (I mean honestly i've been waiting this long so what the hell) But he did say that it is definately because it is a left hand model and the holidays and the ATA show they were swamped. So with that being said i hand up with him having a slight bit more confidence in the shop i bought it at.

Half hour later he calls me from the shop saying the exact same information that bowtech told me on the phone. He said that someone else got the exact same model in RH and that his rep was reporting to him on the right hand model. Sooooo I mean I don't know how i feel about all of this it really is ****ty. But atleast i know that the shop wasn't lying to me and that they were telling the truth, i feel like they just weren't putting in as much leg work as they could have.

Oh on a side note - The shop that i bought it from just recently one of the owners sold his part of the partnership to another guy the guy i have been going back and forth with. He said that the guy i placed my order with was nothing but a screw up and the whole month of january they have been fixing his mistakes. Sounded like there was a little bit of bad blood there so we'll see friday LOL

JNTURK 02-06-2012 05:55 PM

Get Serious........Get Hoyt!

Nuff said.

On a side note. Sorry for your troubles and I hope you get it soon.

bigbulls 02-06-2012 06:35 PM

Did you happen to ask Bowtech when the shop placed the order?

BTAssassin 02-09-2012 06:10 PM

Finally!

Hey all, not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but i did get the bow..with a bit of a twinge. Let me know if you wanna hear the scoop. Finally! The Assassin!

vettebrett 02-10-2012 05:42 PM

Glad you got it finally....

907Alaska 02-10-2012 07:26 PM

Alot of companies have long wait times now for bows....but 47 day is kinda on the long side of things

Ben / PA 02-14-2012 02:31 PM

Post the final result. What's the twinge?

DrHouse 02-16-2012 03:36 PM

Im interested to hear the outcome of what happened, I'm also interested in what shop in MA it was. I ended up getting my Invasion from Brians Archery in NH. I think it took about 4.5 weeks when I ordered it, they had originally told me about 6 so I was happy when it came in early!

BTAssassin 02-17-2012 03:37 AM

Finally!!!and I love it

Ok so here it goes.
Last week i knew it was supposed to be coming on Thursday or Friday but i couldn't wait so i figured i'd play a little stupid and call and say that I forgot which day they said to call and see if it was there. The gentleman who answered the phone said yes it is! i said ok its a camo assassin 50-60# draw left handed. He says oh ahh it's left handed but its a 70# but your welcome to come and try it. I had had a long day at work and decided i would come up Thursday and try out the 70# if mine wasn't in.

Thursday comes and one of the owners calls me all excited that my bow has just come in and he wanted to let me know right away because he knows how long i have been waiting for this bow. So i told him i'd be up in about an hour and i'd see him then.

I get there i have him set everything up with the sight rest etc, now i finally get to pull it back. I have him set it at 55# and i give it a whirl. AND I COULDN'T DO IT! So we drop it down to 48# adn give it a try and I could do it but it was a struggle it just felt awkward.

(On a side note the guy who was helping me actually bought out one of the old owners, the one who fitted me for the bow and told me what i should get and to stick with a left bow because i am left eye dominant. But he never actually let me pull one back. )

So he says to me are you sure your a lefty? I said i dunno i mean i told him that i am stronger with my right arm but i do write with my left hand and am left eye dominant. So i went with his expert advice. Which was foolish of me i should have tried shooting a couple arrows, but i figured since i was so new to the whole thing i would just trust his expertise.

So he walks over to the big rack of bows at the back of the shop and pulls down a right handed assassin, the only catch is that it's black! Now wasn't crazy about it at first but now i really love it everytime i see it i like it more and more. So i try out the right handed bow at 55#'s and pull it back effortlessly. So what i ended up doing was switching to a right handed bow and i just close my left eye. Which had i known this 2 months ago i could of had that bow then.

The owner did say that they have had problems like this with the old owner and that is part of the reason why he was bought out. Everyone took really good care of me after everything was said and done. But still pretty aggrivating.

I actually bought the bow in NH, but i am not going to say the name of it here because they have been really great to me with all that has happened. No deals or anything but just genuine and take the time to explain anything that i want to know about.

nodog 02-18-2012 01:39 PM

sounds like they had to sell some stuff before they could pay for yours and get it to you. Is there a return policy, if so I think you should take advantage of it. You didn't just buy a bow, you bought service and all indications are your not going to get what you paid for.

I once had problems with a window for a job, bla blah blah, one excuse after another until I said cancel the order, it came in 2 days. I lost a few days of vacation and installed it. When I returned I went to look out the 2 story bay window behind the marble encased whirlpool tub to see it completely shattered, the tempering had problems. I called the company and told them, strictly warning them I'd better not find a scratch. They did replace it some what quickly and in good order. Maybe there were problems with the production of your bow and it too will explode, not like it never happens and then you'll have to return to the shop. I wouldn't want the head ache associated with any item that's supposed to make me smile.

Food for thought.

Ken/WV 02-18-2012 02:06 PM

Thats a long wait....my ex wife ordered a electric pink passion when they first came out with 50-60lb limbs and only had to wait 10 or 11 days.

BTAssassin 02-19-2012 04:18 AM

Hey it is what it is. I doubt it will explode there nodog. Plus I would just deal with bowtech they have excellent customer service. You my friend sound a bit paranoid stick to windows lol

Ben / PA 02-19-2012 05:56 PM

BT. I hope you really enjoy your bow and you'll shoot just fine. That said, I made the switch to LH because I was left eye dominant. I know what it felt like to try and pull that weight and it started with 3 or four shots a day at 50 then building to 63. FOR ME, it was well worth it and when it was over it felt WAY more natural. Don't be too quick to bang on the guy that gave you that advice.
