What time do you get on stand for the afternoon?

Just curious what time you guys get on stand for an afternoon bow hunt? I' ve seen deer in the fields here as early as 5:00. I' ll be hunting transition areas between bedding areas and food sources. I' m thinking around 4:30 or is that too early?

Thanks.

When I' m planning on hunting the day, I am ussually on the stand from first light till about 11:00am, then I am usually back in the stand around 1-2 until dark.

As soon as I can get out there. I usually get home from work between 3 and 4pm and as soon as I shower and head to my stan.

I think the time of year is whats important here. In the early season its not important to get out there to early unless you have the time and just enjoy being out. Just like in the mornings during the early season I don' t stay past 10 but when the buck start looking harder its time to stay longer and get there earlier. Then during the rut its best to go in at dark and leave at dark!!!!

I kind of let work decide what time I get on stand.

If I happen to be off work then its daylight to dark.

Ohhh ....Lets see, I get to the stand about 4:00 am, that way I can take a short nap before sunrise, and I get down at dark. Never been the guy to take a break during the day......;)

Depends on afternoon stand in relation to where deer are bedding.

If the stand I will be using is close to the bedding area presently being used…. 500-1000 yards, I try to be in my stand by no later than 1:00 PM; preferably earlier.

If the stand is one that is a greater distance from where the deer will be coming from; no later than 2:00-2:30 PM.

I get back to the stand right after lunch. By 2 at the latest. If I hang around the camp they will put me to work. ;)

Early in the season, I like to be on the stand 3 hours before sunset. In the two weeks closest to the rut, I like to on by noon, (6 hours before sunset). Late season I like to be there 2 hours before sunset. For some reason in late season the area I hunt the deer just move an hour before dark. Its also a heck of alot easier to stay warm for only two hours!!!!!!

Good Luck!!

I usually try to get out to my stand a good hour before sunrise in the am. For the afternoon, it' s around 4 o' clock. If I jump anything on the way in. I' ll try to 30-45 minutes earlier the next day.

3 hours minimum before sunset if possible, I have killed deer after getting on stand with only 1 1/2 hours of light left though. I hunt a lot of afternoons because I get off work early in the day, last year I got off at 2:30PM, now at I get off at 1PM!:D

Depends on the day, time of year, weather etc. Anywhere from 1:00 to 6:30.:D Right now we' re on crop damage hunting. 6 or 6:30 on the edge of a field is early enough but I go about 5.
