It depends on what your using them for. The Steiners are great little binoculars for the money. The small objectives don' t pick up much light, but they' re clear and waterproof. For bowhunting in the woods, the 8x22s work fine for me, but I still plan to get a pair of the 8x30s. I' ve never used the Pentax, so I can' t comment on them.

They both make quality optics, and I' m sure either would be fine in that regard, but with any small binocs, low light visiblitlty will suffer some. I have some 8x25 Nikons and they are great for what they are. If you really need something for low light, I' d go a little bigger. I would probably opt for the 8x25' s, choosing by size...but you should probably compare them by actually looking through them.

I have not personlally used either one of those. By looking at the numbers the 8 x 25 might pull in a bit more light. I do not like to use anything lower than a 30 objective for purposes of light gathering.

Look at them both, see if they will let you take them outside to examine. See which ones are clearer and put less strain on the eye. I have tried the smaller ones, but they tend to give me headaches. Now I use the Nikon 8 x 36, a little bigger but comfrotable, clear and great for low light.
