New to bow hunting.
 

Would like to buy a bow during the off season are there any brands that are better than the others.

welcome to sport! I hope you know how addicting this is! The best thing you can do is to go to a good pro shop and tell them how much you can spend and they will let you shoot a few that are in your price range. find the one feels best to you.

First things first welcome to the board
secondly welcome to the wonderful world of bow hunting.
As for a bow work out how much you want to spend on a bow then go to as many pro shops as you can and test fire as many bows as you can.
Then decide on what bow felt more comfortable to you an ill fitting bow will soon be put in the cupboard and you will be dishearted about a wonderful sport.

Welcome. I agree with others. There are alot of good starter bows out there that will last you for years. The important thing is that it feels good to you, not brand name. It's important to get fitted for a bow. Talk to your local pro-shop and they will help set you up. Good luck bow hunting and have fun shootin.

welcome to the board, and to bowhunting. While their are a great many bows, so many infact it is hard to recomend just one or two. The price ranges are just as varied! I can only realy tell you the manufactures that are on my list for one reason or another, and let you decide how much you want to spend, and wich ones fit you best. Darton, Hoyt, Parker, Martin, and bowtech. These are the manufactures that seem to have the highest quality, customer service, and the features I am looking for in a bow. Their are many others that may be as good, but these would be my picks. I would also recomend a quality proshop to help you out. Make sure they measure your drawlength, and help set you up. You will pay more, but it is worth every penny!

Dont just try the compounds, some people have better luck with traditional bows(recurves) and they are just as deadly. I love mine!

Be ready, bow hunting is addicting.

I learned for experence that geting started in bow hunting is like buying a good gun. Don't go the inexpence route. If you are really commmited. spend the extra money or you will find youself buying a better bow and accessories in a couple of years and spending even more.

Find one that is comfortable and visit your local pro shops. Find a couple and get different oppinions.

welcome aboard the best thing youcan do like it hasnt been said is buy the one that fits younot the one the store owner thinks you should buy and by all means get one that fits your draw lenght and pondage dont buy big poundage to look tough you wont like it in the long run (been their done that) <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
