What Is It Called?

In the 80s there was a spool of tracking string, that you attach to your bow,and you tie to your arrow.
And when you shoot the arrow through a deer the string would lay a string trail to the deer.
But I can't remember what it is called.

Any One Know?

Thank you.

Does it work

thats a cool idea but with todays modern bows with there fast speeds, most people will shoot right through a deer with the arrow pretty securely in the dirt. so im wondering if the string would break when the deer ran or what.

They worked, my brother used one...Now remember, back then we rarely took shots past 25 yards and our arrows were much heavier so accuracy wasn't affected...

Besides, with Rages, who needs a tracking string??? :)

Rage...Like throwing an ax, halfway through a deer???

If you get a pass thru you will have a double string to follow. I agree they work, but only at close range. (<20 yds) After that you will begin to have drag from the string.
Oh yeah, one more thing: If you make a good shot you don't need a Rage. Last 5 of 5 buck I shot died within in sight - in the woods. Last one only going 40 yds. Broadhead - fixed blade Magnus Stinger 100 grain.

I use to use the gametracker alot when I first started. String always broke when the deer ran into the thick stuff. Never lead me to a deer. Stopped using it. Wouldn't recommend.

I used to hunt in the rain and in swamps a lot, and used Gametracker and Saunder's String Trackers on 24 recovered deer. The string trackers never saved me a deer that I would not have otherwise found - but they sure saved me a lot of tracking time. But I also had a few deer 'jump' the string, and I felt the extra noise from the string trackers cost me. I would not recommend them.

I now have a blood trailing dog - she's more fun than a string tracker, lol.
