Montec G5 - shaving sharp?

I' ve been working on my new Montec G5' s. Can someone please tell me that it took them awhile to get them sharp? I bought Montec' s sharpener but I' ve been working on this broadhead for about an hour and still haven' t gotten it shaving sharp. Any advice?!?

I too have had the same problem trying to get my G-5' s shaving sharp. Then I asked some friends and guys on this forum to help me out. Some guys told me to run the blade on your fingernail and if it digs in you have a sharp blade. Might not be razor sharp but it should do the trick.

The angle of these blades are such that they shoot extremely accurate but are not shaving sharp like a straight razor. However, take one and shoot it into a broad head target like the cube for example, then take a thunder head with replaceable shaving sharp razor blades and do the same. With my set up, the G5 penetrated farther. Go Figure??[:o] My advise is use their sharpener, use the leather strop on the other side lightly for a finishing touch, then put it through the chest cavity of a monster buck or doe.

I was at my pro shop this morning and they had ALOT of the Montec G5' s.They have been selling a lot of them,I guess.I did notice they also had the Montec G5 practice head.GREAT IDEA !!!.Everything about it was the same, except no edge to the blades. Not cheap though, about $10.00 a pop,,,OUCH [X(]

The practice heads are only a coupla bucks cheaper than the regular broadhead, why not just use the broadhead and resharpen it? A little work, sure but at least it' d be useable for both.
