Do I need a stabilizer
I just bought a new browning bow and I' ve been shooting alot lately and I don' t have any vibration that I notice and the only sound I hear is the twang of the string (I don' t have the string silencers on yet.) Do I really need a stabilizer then or do they do more then take care of noise and vibrations?
But I only have it set to 47 pounds do to a shoulder injury. will I possibly need it when I turn up the pounds? |
RE: Do I need a stabilizer
It all depends on how the bow balances and holds on target.
If you can hold steady on the x and the feel is right then NO you do not need one. But most bows do IMO |
RE: Do I need a stabilizer
I also think most bows need stabilizers, but I am not familiar with the bow that you are shooting.

RE: Do I need a stabilizer
I also recommend use of a stabilizer but not just one that adds dead weight. I recommend a quality stabilizer with some dampening system.

RE: Do I need a stabilizer
I guess my only answer could be... I don' t know. Do you need one?
Depending on what I' m doing and what bow I' m using, sometimes I do and sometimes I don' t. If I' m shooting to cut X-rings for high score in a tournament, then yes. I need one. If I' m shooting a bow with a lot of recoil, then yes. I need one. If I' m hunting with one of my mild mannered ol' round wheel bows with a deflexed riser that is well balanced without it, then no. I don' t need one. If you like the way your bow feels and you' re getting good accuracy without one, I' d say save your money. |
