I shouldn' t listen to you!

After reading the thread about " group size at 25 yards" , I decided to shoot a bunch of them and try to get an average by actually measuring them. I averaged approx. 3.75" for 10 groups at 25 yards. If I threw my worst arrow out, it fell to 3" . It was measured from outside of the arrows furthest apart. This was worse than I thought it would be.

The group below ruined me. It' s probably why I think I' m better than I really am. Fortuantely, they were practice arrows that I usually " blank bale" with, so no great loss. :D I was happy to see the robinhood happen on the arrow closest to the center of the 2.5" dot. This group was 7/8" . LOL, I won' t do that for another 50 groups or more.

Nice group. Too bad you didn' t bust that purdy pink nock instead. [:o];)

I wonder if anyone has ever shafted a shafted shaft? Or double Robin Hood?

Nice shooting but the pink knock looks odd [:o]

That' s a nice group, keep practicing and you we will get better groups. Currently, I am not shooting as good as I would like to, so I practice daily and I know that soon my groups will tighten considerably. Practice is the key with bowhunting. Also, don' t put too much emphasis on your groups, they mean little in bow hunting. You should be more concerned about being able to calm yourself and put ONE arrow in the killzone of a buck.

Thusly why I never shoot for the same mark twice. You can still consider it grouping when aiming for lets say, 5 different marks and all your arrows hit the same place on each of the 5 markds. That way your not busting nocks and still know where your bow is shooting.

...Heh heh heh.... First let me say " Super group" !!!!! [:-] Very very impressive. Just think what you could do with " good" arrows! :D

I am always amazed how we tune, tweak, test, and generally try to get better...sometimes to our own hurt. Sometime ago I was testing broadheads through the chrono at fifty yards so I could see the actual results. I know a guy can plug into a program and get reliable results, but what kind of fun is that? I ended up ruining a few arrows and with my last shot clipped the reflectors on my chrono. The white plastic pieces above the chrono when sliced in two stood up and parted like the red sea. From my vantage point the arrow never appeared to go of course. It was cool to watch (I guess you had to be there) but that little experiment was sure hard on the equipment. :)

Nub, a fingers shooter that I met in Colorado and hunted elk with one afternoon last year claimed he " double hooded" one time. I didn' t see it obviously so I can' t verify it. I' m sure it has been done...however never by me. :(

At my local pro shop Chips sports center in trumbull county ohio he has quite a few triple stack robins hanging on the wall. Around the range there are literally hundreds of robin hoods and i would guess maybe 10 triple stacks. I personally have never tripled them up either.

I came close to doing that twice today but darn rest hte time my shooting stunk. Today was my first time shooting my new bow, and i havent shot any bow sense last season. I got some good groups going but need to practice, dont think i want a robin hood though sense these carbons cost to much [8D]

I' ve seen a photo of it done on a local target archery magazine. I think he was shooting at 40 metres and robinhooded an arrow that was robinhooding another arrow[:o]. They were all still stuck up the butt of each other. Damn good shot if you ask me.

Yep, ...Yea me too. Just cant afford to replace those arrows. Yea I purposely try NOT to do any robinhoods. ;) I just make smiley faces with my groups.:D

One of the locals around here has a few triples and many, many doubles to his credit. he used to work for PSE I think. Fletched up a lot of arrows for Easton catalogs too! He' s very knowledgable....VERY!:)

The guy in the picture is Norm Lewis. He' s been the Maryland state champ for a couple years now. He is the local weatherman on TV --a job he' s performed for quite some time.

I think it is four arrows.....Look real close...Plus when you save it it says robinhood4

RE: I shouldn' t listen to you!

Unless that guy has a nub, he' s holding up 3 fingers. Could just be a pic count number. I think the guy AE met accomplished something even more difficult. He shot his with fingers. Now that would be some great form. I never knew it was so common a occurence.

RE: I shouldn' t listen to you!

Here is the link that states it was a double robinhood.

www.flexfletch.com/newpage2.htm

Robinhoods can be avoided or accompished with the way the arrows are built.I build arrows to prevent it from happening.I always use unibushings and g-nocks and this makes it much harder to robinhood and reaaly protects the back end of carbons.I have taken several nocks completely off and had to pull what was left, out with a screw that was heated up.Many more nocks have been split down the middle. Those would have been for sure robinhoods if the uni wasn' t there.

If I didn' t do this,I would destroy a bunch of arrows.Just something for those that are concerned about cost of arrows.Easy to avoid at home but when shooting with others on a 3-d range,it isn' t up to you sometimes.

RE: I shouldn' t listen to you!

Here is one with 4. I find the picture hard to believe.

I usually don' t shoot the same spots unless I am 40+ yards, and even then it is only 3 or 5 arrows at most. If I get a hood at 40 to 80 yards, I can live with that. I can think of better things to spend money on I guess.

Wow[:o] Wonder where the 5th one went. So would a guy score them at 20/4X?

Depending on the type, that has to be at least 30-40 bucks of wasted shafts he' s looking at. ACCs closer to 50. He should be able to salvage the last one. :D

To expensive for me to shoot like that [&o]
