I have always gone from the base of the tree and aimed were I wanted to hit.

i always range a tree level with me while im in the stand (as opposed to the base of that tree) and aim where I want to hit.

Practice some shots from your climber, have a friend move your target and return your arrows to ya, this helps alot! Also If your aiming dead on a deer broadside, at a steep angle like 10-15 yrds and your 20' up, think about your aim, and what its going to pass threw on the other side (ex: shoot him broad side and low at a high angle, your only gettin one lung..., Shoot a little higher youll hit one, and clip the other)
