bow mounted camera for bow hunting? Can anyone recommend a bow mounted camera that they have used or heard good input on? Thanks in advance!

Its natural to think a bow mounted camera is gonna be pretty cool........and it probably is until the moment that you release an arrow, your bow recoils, vibrates etc. and you drop your bow arm to watch the deer run.
I can' t imagine the footage to be very still.......even before the shot with the adreneline flowing like it does. you' d have to be a serious ice cube to get any steady footage!:D

I think a better solution would be one of those tree mounted ones that you could keep near you and swing into the area of the shot before you shoot. Might be touchier to get it just right, but the footage will HAVE TO be better than off the end of the bow.
Even better would be abuddy running that set-up from another stand. I think if bow mounted cameras were anything worth trying you' d see the major video guys like Drury, Primos etc using them.

Silent, Matt' s right. I' ve been, along with my hunting partner, filming hunts for years. I' ve researched the bow mounted camera devices and they are fine for everything but the shot. The image jumps and you' ll never get the shot on film, plus, it' s something else to distract you from making the shot.

My professional opinion is to stay away from them unless you simply want to film the deer and not the shot. A tree mounted holder works great and depending on your setups, will get all the footage you need. I' d recommend a camera with the view finder flip out so you can watch it as you need to and still hold the bow..etc.

My best advice, find a hunting partner who shares your passion for the hunt and the footage as I have. We share a tree and we are not jealous if the other takes an animal of a lifetime..... It' s all about the hunt, not the kill but the footage is fantastic to relive later.

I would stay away from the bow mounted camera, too much movement to see the shot clearly. I have a treestand camera mount that works great, and has a lot of adjustment. It is even better if you can get someone else to run the cam, so you dont have to keep looking away from the target to make sure the animal is in frame.

Even though I don' t have plans of ever using one, my brother-in-law told me about one his friend had. He said that he watched the video his friend made which depicted the draw (broadhead and arrow being drawn out of sight at top of screen), the successful shot on a 6 point, and the 60 yard death run including the deer going down. He said his friend told him he practiced religiously with the camera on his bow prior to getting this great video.

I would think a camcorder is your best bet but only if its not mounted on a bow. Come to think of it, HOW could you get a regular camcorder on a bow?lol:D

I mounted mine on modified bike helmet. It takes some experimenting at first but once you get the right angle it works great. I have tried to use a tree mounted pod and a bow mounted one also but I could never get the bow mounted one to shoot where I wanted.
