RE: 9/11 hunters, where were you? For book project!
I was out hunting that morning, I' d arrowed a 5 point bull at around 8:00, tracked it down and took care of it, went back to camp early afternoon and heard all about it. At first I was confused, then shortly thereafter really pissed off. elknut1 |

I wasn' t hunting either. I was working in New York outside of the city on a computer chip plant renovation, and when the crap hit the fan at the TT' s, it didn' t take long for the news to get ironed out and our job got shut down by plant security. No one was sure exactly what the terrorists targets were, so we were sent back to our homes and motel rooms, but all of the main bridges outside of the City were closed down and we all ended up setting in stalled traffic for hours until about 2 hours after the last plane crashed. Not one of the most enjoyable days of my life, but one of the most memorable. :(

Hi Charlie,
Greetings from Colorado. I appreciated you responding to my post. I would like you to submit a two page story with a picture of yourself in hunting clothes and your favorite weapon and share your experience in the woods a week after the attack. How did you feel sitting in the woods?, where did your mind wander to?, and explain about the aircraft, no tailings, jet noise, and how quiet it was, that' s the stuff I can remember, so if you can do that I would appreciate that so very much, and if you can send your info to: Dr. Michael Brooks 11677 west 62nd Ave. #10 Arvada, CO 80004 Thanks Charlie, take care and God bless.. |

RE: 9/11 hunters, where were you? For book project!
I was not hunting either, but I remember the empty feeling and the shock of what had happened. I drive quite a ways to work, so it all happened on my way in. Then once we knew the extent of what was going on I went home. My wife was worried sick, because her mom works in downtown Chicago and there were rumors of things being found in the Sears Tower. That evening I had a football practice for my son. We thought about canceling it, but felt it would be better for the kids to get their minds off of things for at least a little while. It was truly a " strange" evening with no Jets flying over head. It seemed almost silent as we could hear all the " nature" sounds just like when I am in the woods hunting. It was absolutely the worst day in my life when something didn' t happen to me personally. I wasn' t around when Kennedy was shot or Pearl Harbor, but I would guess the feeling was about the same.
