Switching from Right Handed to Left Bow for Eye Dominance?
 

Anyone here ever switch hands?

I am one of the few people that is right handed but left eye dominant.

I would like to be able to shoot with both eyes open.

Is it hard drawing a bow with the opposite arm.

I have always shot a right handed? (hold grip with left hand) but am interested in changing.

Thoughts?

I have the same problem. All I did was adjust my sights to compensate for it. I also put a little bigger hole in my peep sight for added light.

I switched years ago. After turning to traditional equipment and shooting instinctively it didn't much matter, but the clarity with a peep and pins is significantly better with the left eye. I also tend to shoot an open sight rifle left handed as well. If you've been shooting right handed for some time you may have trained yourself and your sight to do fine. Compare the sight window both ways. Switching wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. It was awkward for a couple of practices and then was fine. When I pick up a RH bow it feels a bit awkward, but doesn't take long to feel normal again.

Switching can be done. Everyone is different, so it takes some more practice and sometimes weight training to equal out the draw arms.

i did it. when i was 12 got my first bow that was right handed. i shot good but not great. took my first deer with it. since my left eye was dominant i started to shoot my rifle left handed. then last year i used my right handed bow, but used it left handed. even though it wasnt the best i made my grouping so much smaller, then i took my last deer left handed with a right hand bow. Now i got a new bow that is left handed, and lets just says i can drill a baseball at 30 yards. Its not as hard as i thought it would be but i think it makes a huge difference! it was a little difficult to gain as much strength in my left arm to pull back, but i started at 50 and now am at 70 comfortably. i also shoot with both eyes open which i did see an increase in accuracy after i changed. i say go for it!

I just switched to left hand this year after 25 years of shooting right handed. Like you I am right hand but left eye dominate. I was able to stay shooting 70 lbs when I switched. After a few weeks of practice I am shooting just as good as I did right handed. I would recommend it. Shooting with both eyes open is awesome.

I switched about 3 years ago. The main reason I did was because I found left handed bows to be cheaper in price. I know that's sounds silly but it turned out to be true. I could nice left handed bows for way less money then the same right handed bow. I took to shooting left handed really easily. It took some time and practice but I've shot several does and turkeys and big bucks lefty.
