I also think those new grizzly' s are not very good. Does anyone remember those old grizzy' s. They used to have a much better thread. They were a pup to put into hardwood, but once they were in, they worked great. I wish they made them like they used to.

Anyone try the silver tips from Ameristep yet? Just wondering how they compare.

I have used screw in steps and ladders are much better. the problem with ladders are the height and cost. I solved both problems by making my own.

I just buy 1" square tubing. I use a chop saw to cut the material and a stick welder to weld the tubing together. I make the sections in 6 foot joints. I can make four from two 20 foot joints of square tubing. Total cost is about 20 bucks. This will get me up 24 foot. Much easier than screwing a step into a hardwood.

Remember steps are not good for the timber. I hunt on my own land and every tree that dies is money out of my pocket.
