Looking for a Scentlok bag to put my hunting stuff in
What does everyone have for scentlok bags, and what do you think of them?
|
I just use the giant Ziplock brand bags and think they work great. I keep my boots in one, warm weather camo in one, cold weather camo in another, underwear and layers in another and so on. Plus if you get the ones with a hole in the top or just make one, you can hang them on hooks or hangers, etc. Good luck!

I use a storage tote and put pine limbs in the bottom of it
|
I have used the totes for years. I was just thinking that as long as this is gonig to be my first year using scentlok, I would get one of the scentlok bags.

Dont spend the big bucks for a "ScentLok" bag/tote. Any air tight container works better as it almost completly keeps forigen scent out and you can add you dirt and branches etc.

+1 on the big ziplock bags. They work great. I don't keep my boots in them though, I figure the stink inside the boots needs to air out a little so I keep them in an open garbage bag. Last season I started using an ozone generator though to make sure my clothes were scent free after each hunt and then I'd store the clothes in the bags. I used the generator on other gear too, just not after every hunt. That thing really works well.

I take it a step farther and put every piece in their own zip bag and then put like clothes in a large zip bag. That way I can paw through them looking for which I want that day without ever touching them. I don't care for tootes because I take clothes with me and hauling a toote around... :)
All my clothes are kept in a special closet I build in an out building where the wood boiler is which is next to the chicken coop and I live in a woods. Can't get much better (some would call it obbsessed :)) than that. Only thing left to do is hook up a washer and dryer I have to use specifically for hunting clothes. I'll use rain water. :) |
I place my suite in a space saver bag and roll all the air our of it. I then place the bag and my boots in a rubber maid totoe that I fixed up a little. I put weather stripping around the top edge of the tote closed the lib and glued to hooks to the side of the tote, I run a bungy cord from one hook to the other across the middle of the tote. Further I place carbon in the tote to help reduce odoer.
