Opinions Needed!!
 

I'm new to bow hunting and new to archery. I just bought my first bow, a bowtech Guardian. Does it make sense on a compound bow to learn to shoot instinctively or should I go ahead and put a peep and sights on the bow? Is it possible shoot instinctively using a whisker biscuit? I've been told those that invest the time and effort to shoot instinctively have better success than those that rely on sights and estimated distance to target. On the other hand I've been advised that I'm giving up a lot of compound bow advantages shooting instinctively. I also suspect that the ability to shoot instinctively requires much practice to attain and much practice to maintain. Any thoughts?

If I were shooting a compound, I would go with the bells and whistles. If you want to shoot instinctive I would just buy a recurve or long bow. Just my two cents worth.

You do not have to use a sight on any bow. Im not good at instinctive so I use a sight. I want to make a clean kill and sights allow me to do this better. If you put in the time and learn to do it them there isn't anything wrong with it. I just don't think anyone shooting without a sight can be as accurate.

if yer gonna go and attempt to kill animals, you should def get the sights and rest. if ya just wanna dik around and do targets and stuff, hell ya..go fer it...i also agree with the stick n string mentioned by pastor jim.

I started out with a compound shooting instinctive for over 16 years. it takes dedication and lots of practice at my best i only felt comfortable shooting to 25 yards . i shot and recovered over 30 deer in those years . becouse it takes alot of dedication ie time i switched over to sight and a peep and i almost doubled my affective range . with less time shooting. i hope this helps

Either way is fine but you need to have more practice time for bare bow.

I would go with the peep and sights, if you wanted to shoot from instinct I would have gone the traditional route. Also in my opinion the whisker biscuit is a little loud when the arrow contacts the whiskers but again that's just my opinion.

i agree, 3 of my buddies done away with the biscuit, 1 fer it being loud and all 3 fer the damage to the arrows.
its great fer shootin layind down or upside down though, nothing better that i found. i am back to my very 1st rest though, old school spring loaded single arm, show me somethin better, i'll try it.

FALSE! That is some seriously unaccurate info. Do you know why less than 1% of compound shooters shoot that way..... because it's FAR less accurate!

If you want consistent accuracy shoot sights and a peep.

Those that put in the time and effort will have better success regardless.
i would recommend going bare on a lower poundage bow,
on a higher poundage bow would want every advantage to sight in as quickly as possible.
