Who uses G5 MONTEC?
I really like the idea of a truly one-piece broadhead.
No welds, no removeable blades, and easy sharpening since the entire head only has 3 surfaces to sharpen. Anybody out there use them? had trouble tuning with them? Any insight or experience would be welcome. Thanks. |
RE: Who uses G5 MONTEC?
I am going to use them this year.
Tuned with them this weekend. Screwed them on to my arrows and they all spun perfect. When I shot with them they hit right on with my field points. No extra tuning necessary. I would say they have about the same noise in flight as Thunderheads. I also like the one piece " head to thread" construction and feel that this will lead to better consistency in the heads. The only shortcoming is the price $29 for 3. But if they fly like my fieldpoints, I am willing to swallow the price. |
RE: Who uses G5 MONTEC?
There are a number of quality heads on the market and I feel like the G5 is one of them. As far as sharpness goes they are not in the same class as a Steel Force or a Rocky Mountain but they have proved to be sharp enough to get a complete pass through on an elk.
As far as tuning goes, mine fly excellent. I don' t consider myself to be an expert shooter by any means. Recently shooting at sixty yards with the G5' s, my first three arrows all hit a three inch spot. The next two were a few inches off but I could never blame that on the heads.:D |
RE: Who uses G5 MONTEC?
As AE said, they worked great out to 60yrds and hit right with my field points. I agree with the cost factor BUT if you take quality shots you won' t have to purchase more than 2 packs the first year and one every year after that.
I will be hunting elk with them in t-minus 39 days! Yippi-ki-Ayy |
RE: Who uses G5 MONTEC?
There my broadhead choice this year, shoots great and sharpen easly. I will use the 100 gr for elk. First broadhead that i can just screw on and get them to spin perfectly.

RE: Who uses G5 MONTEC?
I would say they are in my top 5 favorite heads. They are strong, penetrate well, and accurate. A little pricey maybe, but worth it I think.
