YOU BOWTECH GUYS WILL BE PROUD!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys,
Today, I went to pick up my arrows from the guy that set up my MightyMite. Well, he wanted my best friend to take his Browning Tornado down to tune it up. Well, instantly we noticed it needed new strings and cables, as they are about 3 years old. Then, John asked my friend if he wanted to invest the money into the bow that the Winners Choice strings and cables would cost. Well, my friend decided he didn' t want to, instead, he wanted a new bow. So, off we went bow shopping. Afther shooting the cam and a half system, my friend tried the BowTech Extreme VFT. INSTANTLY, he fell in love. Well, at 4:05 p.m., we were leaving the shop, and he had a Extreme VFT that wasn' t set-up (The shopped closed at 4:00 p.m.). It was $579.95 which was a good deal, considering the bow came straight out of a box and had never been shot. My friend shot it through the chrono, before it was tuned, and was getting 261 f.p.s. with a 430 grain arrow, 63 pound draw weight and 28" draw length. We came to my house and he shot it and was grouping pretty darn good. Well, at 7:30 we headed back down to Johns and took off the speed nock, took out the Shurz-A-Peep (my friend didn' t like it), put in a Fletcher Tru-Peep, and tuned it up perfect within minutes. Then, my friend and I went outside and were shooting at 30 yards. Boy o boy, we were stacking in there so close that even John was flinching :D He said that he is going to follow us around with a few dozen arrows while we are shooting :D So, today, my friend bought, shot, and tuned what he considers his perfect bow. We shot it next to a Reflex TimberWolf with Cam and a Half, and this thing actually draws smoother. At 63 pounds, it feels like 53 pounds. So, my best friend and I are both shooting BowTechs now. Matt/Pa, see, you got me hooked, and in turn, got my best friend hooked :D |

RE: YOU BOWTECH GUYS WILL BE PROUD!!!!!!!!!
Thats some good speed for a 28" draw 63# pull.
I shot an extreme VFT the day I picked up my MM. It shot nicely enough, but at the moment I had new bow ownership glow clouding my observation as to how good it was. The lower brace height was enough to keep me happy with my MM over it. Sounds like you had a great day. Are you saying the VFT pulled smoother than the cam and a half? If so, I' m impressed. My 2002 cam pulls like a bull!! |

Aussie,
Yep, you gotta take a check book. Heck, I was playing around with some of the other BowTechs there and I kept thinking.... " hmmmm.... this would look good beside my MightyMite" :D DaveC, Yep, I drew his bow back and it was smoother than the Hoyt Cam and a Half system. I was very shocked, especially considering the IBO speed of this bow. I figured that it would have a very aggressive draw cycle, but, it was the exact opposite. It has a smooth transition in to the peak draw weight and then into the let-off. Plus, the real feel of the draw cycle was very smooth. I saw his bow go on the scale and it was at 63#. Then, I was thining to myself....... " there is no way my bow is at 65#, it has to be heavier" . Well, put my bow on and 65#. My friends Extreme VFT just feels like alot less weght. In all honesty, I bet that it, with 70 pound limbs, maxed out, would feel like my MightyMite now, which is at 65#. I did get a chance to shoot the 2003 Patriot Dual Cam and WOW, I could feel my arm being torn into pieces. :D I shot the 70# model, and it felt more like 90# :D It was one bow that I was thinking about gettimg, but visions of it ripping off my arm made me think twice :D |
RE: YOU BOWTECH GUYS WILL BE PROUD!!!!!!!!!
I here ya on the dual cam model. I watched a big ole boy shooting a 70# dually and at full draw the bow was shaking like a leaf!!
I was shooting my old mathews last week to make sure it liked the new fletch I put on it' s arrows. I shot it a good 20 minutes at 67# and was satisfied with what I saw, so I pulled out the mighty mite for some shooting and at 65# (where I left it after increasing it for your speed comparison the other day) it felt like every bit of 70!!! After about 10 shots I was shaking like a leaf[:o]!! I think I need to adjust a little more letoff on the peg to give me a little better valley as right now I feel I have to hold it tight or the cams gonna come aroundm on me and my shoulder can' t do that again. It has just now fully recovered from my shoulder ripping experience:( when I first got my bow in the spring. In hindsight, with this cam and speed all I needed was a 60# model. New limbs may be on the way in the future. |
RE: YOU BOWTECH GUYS WILL BE PROUD!!!!!!!!!
It was my understanding that the when the O2 strings were first introduced that they were a combination of Winners Choice and Stone Mountain. Since Winners Choice backed out of their agreement with Bowtech I assumed that all O2 strings were actually Stone Mountain.
Someone help me out here. BM, Tell your buddy congrats. The EX VFT is a great bow. If the brace was a hair more then I would have probably chosen it over the Pat SC. :) As for the comparison with the Cam and a Half....possibly. However, you have to remember that the limbs also play a part in determining the smoothness of the draw cycle. The ZR200 style limbs found on the Timberwolf and Buckskin are longer and at a more forward facing angle than the XT2000 found on many of Hoyt' s high end models. Your friend might have had a slightly different experience with the Cam and a Half if it were mounted on a different set of limbs. :) Just thinking out loud. |

He got a good deal, I paid $589 for my VFT. I have owned Reflex, and HCA bows. This was my first Bowtech. The VFT is awesome! I have had it 3 weeks and have robinhooded 3 new Goldtip XT 5575" s.....ouch. I can' t put the bow down it is that much fun to shoot!. My Exteme VFT is set @70#, 390 gr Gold tip XT pushing 290fps. KE @72 shooting Rocky Mountain Gators.
