single cam draw weight question

What is the reason that none of the single cam bows have a draw weight over 70 pounds. All I could think of is that is too much stress on one cam, but thats just a guess.

Isn't Mathews a single cam? I thought they made an 80 or even bigger. A friend used one in Africa.

Well, they're Mathews SOLO Cam, but some of their bows are actually dual cam. Not sure wheter or not any of their single cam models eclipse the 70 pound mark.

All that said, what's it really matter if it's a dual cam or single? As long as it's fast a quiet, I'm happy.

I don't think it has anything to do with how many cams or the strength of those cams. If you really check there aren' too many bows of any kind with a draw weight over 70#, probably because there just isn't much demand for them. That being said, almost any bow maker can supply limbs for more than 70#. You just have to specify what you want and order accordingly.

Orthopedic specialists

just love archers with 70 lb. draw weights and greater. Great return on the operations.

What do you need that kind of power for? You shooting elephants?

I can kill anything you do with a70# bow but I will do it with a 60# bow and the right broad head.

In fact he did. Last time I saw him he showed me a pic of a 14' long 4' wide croc he took with a bow. Didn't know what he was going to do with it but it was suggested he live mount it and use it as a coffee table in front of the couch.

My brother got the guy started hunting and he's never looked back. Guy must have 100+ african mounts alone. His new one was a large male lion with a full zebra in it's mouth.

It's the only way I'll see that stuff. Poor guy, has no kids. :)

I'm sure that bow was a Mathews. He had a draw lock on it, all he had to do was get it there.

I didn't get that he was in support of people who shot 70's.

I don't like 60's, just to light for me. I might drop down when I'm 80 but I plan on being just as game then as now. :)

I think that guy I knew was prohibited from using a lighter weight bow and the arrows had some restrictions. He had them things weighted down so much I doubt your 60 could've slung them out 30 yrds.
