How is bowhunting of endangered species legal in Africa?

Hey guys, I recently ran across a website for a bowhunting safari company in Zimbabwe and Nigeria. They provide 'outings' for bowhunters ann allow them to kill animals such as White Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Dik-diks, Jackals, Zebra, as well as many other kinds of animals.

Actually hunting many of the listed animals is a better option than the results of not hunting them. In that I mean that hunting brings in much needed money to many areas of Africa and it's that money and "demand" that keeps the animals protected from poaching. Hunting is regulated and paoching is not. SO with a demand and money coming in, the people of Africa have a reason to protect the resource.

Look at history in the U.S.of A and you'll see basically the same principle. Many animals were nearly wiped out before regulated hunting came along and now you can't find a HUNTED animal that hasn't rebounded in numbers and many species are now thriving that once were thought to be nearly extinct.

Excellent point Howler. The majority of African game is still roaming around because of hunters paying to protect it. And, with the "endangered" hunts, as well as a great portion of the overall hunting in Africa, it is under high-fenced conditions. The fenced areas are VAST, I mean huge, so those animals are a commodity, not something that is part of the wild population, where the "endangered" numbers are counted from. And, Africa does a little different too, there are areas where each of the animals listed are numerous, but may be endangered in certain regions.
