New to hunting

Hi, my name is John and im 21. Looking to start bow hunting with a long bow or recurve. Which is better? and need some on deciding a bow under 350$ that is great for hunting deer and also good for practicing. ive shot a compound, recurve and longbow, i find that i didnt like compound alot. felt weird when i shot it. when i shot the recurve and longbow, it felt alot smoother. but i didnt know which was better for hunting. could someone point me in the right direction to purchase either a longbow or recurve for hunting under 350$? thanks.

You might try posting in the Trad section. A lot of guys over there know there stuff.

I used to shoot a Recurve and I know even back then a lot of the better bows were fairly pricey!

Used, used, used.

I have no idea why but trad guys are so fickle and buy bows like they are out of style. They lose almost 40% of thier value, especially the high end widows, and schafers.

I suggest a good longbow. Just seems easier to learn on. Many don't like the grip, but when you get used to it, its hard to go to a large recurve grip.

I have owned a martin savannah, and chekmate crusader. Both used in your pricerange. also have shot a bear montana.

All three are good bows and good to learn on. In fact, I just sold my savannah after 5-6 years of use. And I have been thru 12-15 trad bows. I just had trouble changing between 3-4 different trad bows, and then shooting all wood selfbows. It messed up my shooting.

So I have stuck with one recurve, and my osagebows.

Good luck. And tradgang or stickbow.com are two great places for these bows. Let me know if you need any help.
