also how safe is it to cook meat like chicken, turkey, and fish in a fryer and reuse the oil. I do not, but have had people say I am crazy for dumping the oil after a fish or chicken fry.

we reuse oil after fish fries pour it through a strainer and its fine for another use
not sure with turkey or chicken but with fish it is fine to reuse

You can reuse the oil after straining and be fine. the oil is so hot it kills any bacteria
Not sure i like the idea of indoor frying , 1 it can get messy and 2 hot oil on the counters and floor would be a pain to clean up.
I use a turkey fryer and burner outside. not as much worry of a mess, the unit cost less than that fryer, more BTU;s that it can put out and i use it for other things like
lots of corn , cooking lobsters, and large amounts of pasta at once , home brewing beer.

Haven't used an electic model. I would say "go for the gas". Tim, not sure if you have deep fried before, but 1), you just can't beat the flavor of a deep fried turkey, epecially if injected with a good marinade, 2), grab your neighbors and family and do about 10 turkeys on a single dose of peanut oil at the proper temp (don't use regular oil), 3) properly measure the amount of oil needed at room temp before you stick that bird in. The hot spillover is messy and dangerous. Have a great turkey day!
