The draw weight is only one variable, you also have to know the IBO speed of the bow, draw length, weight on string, and weight of the arrow. Get all of those and you can enter them in any number of calculators you can find on the web. It's not speed that matters so much as momentum and kinetic energy. You throw a pencil at 500 fps but it won't do much damage.

Also, what type of broadhead is he using? Even without knowing the other variables, I'm going to guess that he's not shooting with enough energy to get a passthrough with a mechanical broadhead, if that's what he's using (given he's only shooting 50#).
