Congrats on a good buck! Very subjective question, and depending on where someone hunts, you'll get a different answer. For me, in Central IL on my personal lease, that deer walks if I've only got one buck tag. Rifle season back home in the U.P. he doesn't take another step.

Great deer with unique qualities.. Not a chance that deer would still be walking.. Really after being skunked last year in Bow Season (too selective), I think back on the ones that I should have taken instead of the one I shouldn't.. And like someone else already said, Rifle Season is right around the corner..

You bet...that's a cool looking rack. Anything unique (e.g. missing brow tines, tall racks like yours, etc) are interesting to look at. Well done!

i would of taken him, very nice looking rack and he is an older deer just lacks spread which is fine. he is still a great buck and an awesome accomplishment to take with the bow. congrats
|
He is a mature buck with great character don't second guess he is a trophy congrats

you are in MD and your tags are filled already?
|
Yes sir, I would've have taken him in a heart beat. Very nice deer!

Not sure if he would be legal where I hunt in Texas. Is his inside spread 13" or greater? Most counties in Texas have gone to the rule where they upped the number from one buck to two bucks, but one has to have an inside spread of at least 13 inches and the other has to have at least one unbranched antler. Rule makes no sense to me and can start a whole nother huge debate. I have seen many young deer with wide spreads and plenty of old mature brutes that are heavy and go straight up. BTW, If I could have convinced myself he was at least 13", I would have shot him too.
Congrats |
No question...YES
