Sprayed Corn Field
 

Ive had my ground blind set on the corner of a recently picked corn field. There are rubs/scrapes and plenty of bucks on my camera which is on the field edge. Today the field was sprayed with manure.... I opted to hunt in a different location because of this. Will this deter the deer for a short time/long time or not at all? Any info would be appreciated.

Give it a few days to settle in and let the deer get used to it. This happened to me a couple of years ago we still saw deer but numbers were fewer and they were on edge sensory overload I guess.

Was it liquid from a lagoon or dry? We've sprayed a lot of fields with pig manure and we see an increase in activity from both wildlife and the cattle shortly after the fact. The only thing we can think of is the amount of salt or other minerals in the manure.

One other plus is your cover scent is already chosen. Just rub a little on ya and you're set.

Its the liquid type. Maybe ill give it a go tonight or tom. And i think I will pass on the natural cover scent.... Also all the scrapes in the area are being worked in the middle of the night. Bummer.

Chances are that if they just spread manure on that field, it'll be plowed under soon, but so will the corn.

My neighbor has farmed and hunted all his life. He says that the deer leave the cut corn alone after he spreads manure on it. He usually disks it not too long after, so I don't know if they would return.
