Hog Attractant, what works?
We are going to attempt to catch a wild hog and raise it in a pen to fatten it up and later have a pig roast. We have a trap but i am not sure which attractant works best. They don' t respond well to corn so something like Molasses, Hog Wild or ???
Not sure what really works. I was hoping to catch one this weekend, so I need something that will work quickly.
By the way, for those who might be worrying/wondering, hogs on private property are not a game animal, there are no season and all of this is legal.

Sour corn works better.Dig a hole with post hole digger and bring 2 beers.Fill hole with corn.Drink one and pour one down the hole. The yeast in the beer will help sour up the corn. You can also pour some diesel on the trap,or door. The hogs like to rub on the diesel. It aslo helps cover human scent.Hogs in my neck of the woods are spookier than deer.Wear rubber boots and keep scent to a minimum. It' s also a good idea to bait the trap for a while before setting it so they will get used to going in.

If you know a butcher or processor that is still open go and ask for some carcases.
Throw them in the trap but leave it a few days or so,so the carcases ripen and that will draw the hogs in.

sour corn is the way to go . The way we make it is fill a bucket 3/4 of the way with corn and then cover with water , put a lid on the bucket and wait 2 weeks . you got sour corn
