Congrats on your first bow kill!! But, I do have a question for you.. How come when you are close enough to kill a deer with your bow you could not tell if it was a spike or a five or six pointer? I do not mean anything bad by this question I am just puzzled that is all..

Hunt4Life23 10-10-2010 10:40 AM

Phil
I have never killed a deer with a bow. He'll I can't even recall where the first shot was placed. I know I hit him and he dropped and turned and the 2nd one when through his back and punched a hole in the middle if his chest. It's very brushy and my adrenine was pumping and I had a small hole in trees to thread. I'm proud of the 2.5 year old 5 point as I popped my cherry and hopefully remember more if the next exciting event :)

115 or 120 lb deer. Not small but not big but in freezer :)

Damaged heads :)

He has bigger brothers so my doe will get bred enough.

I wanted a doe this morning but I like the spot I got and didn't expect him.

You have a good reason to be proud! As any deer with a bow IMO is quite a thing to do!! Just that here where I hunt mostly it is bucks only so I have to concentrate on antlers or not before shooting. It can be any size buck but must sport at least a 4 inch antler growth. So I was just wondering that was all..

Again Congrats to you on your success with your first bow kill!!

I tried to measure how tall the antlers are but not sure since they curve. With a straight tape measure one is 7" tall and the other a tad shorter.

Next time one his size will walk but I may not have that opportunity again. There is a wise 6 or 8 pointer in there someplace I want!!!

Good gawd, look at all the blood on the ground!

Congrats on your first bow kill. It took me 4 years of bow hunting before I got my first bow kill and it was a button buck. I was so pumped up with adrenalin and buck fever I though it was a 300 pound doe when I shot it..... that is until I walked up to it and could throw it over my shoulder. Ha ha.

blgoode 10-10-2010 07:00 PM

Thanks for the comments! Yeah. Loads of red. I didn't expect to have to watch the guy sit 20 min with all that on ground. Tough willed creatures to me :)
