He did it again in pictures
First night out for us together and he made it count. We went in fairly early to kinda check things out and good thing we did.The double set I had intended on us hunting wasn't safe.1 tree was dead so we made a last minute decision to hunt an adjacent stand about 100 yards away.Problem was it was a big buddy stand i built a few years ago.My stand was in the truck and didn't really have enough time to go back so we scrunched up together real tight. This was fine except it left no room for a camera arm so the only video I got was freehand and I haven't even had a chance to view it to see if it is worthy of posting.

After the move,it took about 20 minutes before i heard that unmistakeable sound, then another.A couple minutes passed by and then a small velvet spike step out.My son said he was going to let him pass, atleast that is what he said as long as he stayed out of range. He spooked and ran off.Another 1/2 hours passes by and I see something over my shoulder and realize it is 2 deer coming down our main cut in the field. The deer held up just beyond his range. After a couple minutes, they moved forward with the doe in front, the second was a small spike. My son watched as the doe stepped behind what he thought was a no shot opportunity. He told me he couldn't shoot, the deer stopped behind some leaves.Problem was those leaves were in our tree so I told him to go ahead and shoot.(I explained later that his arrow was going to pass right over those leaves)He thought he missed at first but in my mind,it sounded like a solid hit so I stayed on her. Then I saw what I wanted,a huge blood stain in the 10 ring, and then she fell to the ground. She didn't go more than 20 yards from where he shot her and maybe 40 yards of total ground covered. My son had ranged some markers when we got set and good thing he did because with us in the stand together, camera in one hand and rangefinder in the other,I kept missing the deer and picking up the back of my son.He shot her for 25 and I estimate she was actually 23,which makes a slight difference when your bow only shoots 180 fps.

So here is the hunt in pictures.

Practicing when we get there.

Got it dialed in at 20
