suzuki eiger 400 4x4

Does anyone own a 2003 suzuki eiger with an automatic transmission? I don' t feel any shifting at all.... is this normal?

do you hear it shifting or is it seem like you are winding it out in first gear? the eiger automatic does shift pretty smooth but should be at least noticeable to the ear......if it wasn' t shifting i doubt you would get over 15 mph because you would be gear bound.

Silly rabbit- belted automatics don' t shift!! (the new rincon 650 is a beltless auto that does have 3 gears like an automobile,it is the exception)
They have a CVT transmission. They' re is a belt that rides between two sets of sheeves, as yoo apply throttle the belt will ride up and down for different gear ratios.
The eiger is a nice 4 wheeler. Just put it in low for slow crawling or pulling. High gear for everything else. Give it gas when in high until you achieve the speed you desire. if you want to go faster, give it some more gas!!
Make sure you come to a complete stop when shifting between high/low /reverse.
If you ever sink your 4 wheeler you will have to pull your cvt' s belt cover to drain it out and then you can see what I' m talking about.
If you can' t wait until then. Go to your dealer and ask them to pull it up on their micro -fich. I' m surprised they didn' t explain all this when you picked it up.

That was quick!!
If your really curious. Go to the kawasaki web sight and look up the parts diagram on a prarie. They have the parts diagrams on-line. The cvt' s are very similar. Except the suzuki/artic cats have a bearing mounted in the covers housing and they don' t free spin when at idle.
