a buddy and i came up with a system a few years ago.

buy a pulley from hardware store. buy 50 ft. of 3/8 inch rope.

install steps, ladder, etc. take a 5 ft. section of chain up the tree with you. hook pulley to the chain with a caribiner at desired height. run rope through pulley back down to the ground. have friend pull the stand up to you. he handles all the weight of the stand while you strap it on.

piece of cake.

if you're by yourself you will have to climb down, hoist the stand. tie off the rope to a nearby tree. go back up the tree and strap the stand down. this is pretty easy too, but we always help each other with stands.

we put up two lock-ons last weekend in 97 degree heat, and were hardly sweating. of course we've got it down pat.

all ideas seem very good, esspecially the linemans rope. but we've always used an idea similar to bamas. but we use climbing sticks so we strap about 10 feet onto the tree then the other person pulls them up piece by piece on some rope looped over a limb. and once we get the steps up we pull the first stand up as we would our bow then same with the second (we use 2 stand sets because we video)

Get a linesman belt like everyone is saying. Word of advice, when you get to the point of actually hanging the stand itself, take a tree step and screw it in pointing up at an angle. This way you have something to hang the stand while you get the ratchet strap around the tree, makes it a little easier anyway.

doing searches I can't figure out what a linesman belt is or how it would keep me safe...could you please describe it? Is it like a lumberjack uses or is it a rope you hang from up high and move a knot up and down as you climb but cinches when you fall?
