great news

I just found out that they are going to open bow season earlier in my state. Instead of Oct 1 it will open Sept 15,
I am excited to get out there. I 'm going to have to get my stands set set up soon then:woot:
Any one able to start even earlier ?

Excellent, I can't wait till Oct. for us to start.

We start Sept 15th here as well, but it is so dang hot I will not kill a deer that early unless it is a real trophy sized buck. I killed a big fat doe the first week 2 seasons ago and it was miserable in many ways. Lots of ticks on the deer, brutally hot drag out, and had to process ALL of the meat immediately, couldn't keep the flies off the meat while I was skinning the deer. I had to have my son steady spraying the water hose on it with a big shop fan running to keep em away until I got it all quartered and in the freezer. I mostly use those last 2 weeks in Sept for "live scouting" from a stand with a bow. Not trying to put a damper on you, but these are things that I learned to think about the hard way before I stick a deer again that early.

thanks for the advise i'll keep it in mind about having to process quickly

Our season starts Sept. 4 in KY. There are always some monsters killed early because they are still in the summer patterns. It may be the time of year bucks are the most predictable.

I don't ever shoot a doe this early however because many of the fawns are still very young and I'd rather wait until it cools off anyway.

Good luck and remember the Thermacell......

We have a 1 week early bow season september 13, and I will be sitting looking to get me a big fat jerky doe (assuming it is without yearlings, of course).
