Do you all fletch your own arrows?
I just recieved my inexpensive Arizona Fletch III today from cabelas..WORKS LIKE A CHARM...including shipping about 30.00 even...I fletched 4 arrows tonight that cost 9.00 a piece..It's already paid for itself..I've eyed balled them up before and they were ok for target practice..but this jig..pretty much perfect.
Yes I sure do as of this year and I wish I would of started a long time ago.
I bought the Bohning fletching jig from Gander Mountain on sale for $29 and I couldnt be more happy with it. I will post some pics later this evening for the viewing pleasure. |
I'm happy with this one..took about 5-8 minutes to realize I had a part on backwards...I messed up the first fletch..but now..piece of cake.{ -;
It's already paid for itself..I shoot 6075 carbon terminators...9.00 a piece..with my new bow..I'm ripping a few fletches so this is a life saver. |
I can't even begin to think how many arrows I've fletched in 54 years of Bowhunting. Had a archery shop for nearly 20 years & fletched about 90% of all arrows sold.
Now, I have several Dz. bare shafts sitting around & several Dz. finished arrows I bought various times on SALE. When I see shafts OR arrows on SALE that myself or one of my family members can use, I buy them. I've bought bare shafts for as little as $10 dz that are regular $50 or more & finished arrows for as little as $1 each that would normally be $5 to $7 each. I always browse Cabelas, Wally world & bass pro after season.. I'm guessing I have 200-400 nocks, couple thousand 4" vanes & maybe a 100 or 2 of 5" vanes (I think all PSE). I know I have a couple 100 4" feathers also. I have 2 Mono fletchers (6 at a time) 1 straight & 1 helical I've had since the mid 70s. Yea, a long time. I even have taper tools If I would do some wood shafts. I really enjoy making them & I refletch ALL our family arrows that need it... Winter, after season is a great time to do all this. Enjoy. |
i just use the nap quickfletch with the quikspin speed hunters and so far they are working great... i guess you could call that fletching your own arrows
I don't have vanes in the U.C. yet.

Been fletching my own for years with a JoJan multi-fletcher
I have always enjoyed fletching my own arrows. I use a multi- fletcher, and have been doing my own for 25 years or more.
Sure do, I enjoy it. I find it relaxing.
Bitz for me.
Yup, cut, fletch, inserts, all that stuff. I have fletch A.D.D. so I change them all the time, and doing it myself is about the only way that's gonna happen. It's easy, and WAY cheaper than paying someone to do it, especially with all the scraping to be done.
Fletched my own for many years until I found shrink fletch. I gotta say I really like the stuff and it's such a time saver. Now my poor JoJan multifletcher just sits there gathering dust.
Blessings.....Pastorjim |
Just put the shrink fletch on my arrows. They seem to work pretty good. A friend of mine has been using them for a few years. He's never had a problem. So far so good for me too.
I fletch my own most of the time. Its just another way for me to connect with my hunting...knowing I fletched and wrapped and practiced and that I put a lot of effort into the hunt.
I've never had anyone fletch my own arrows in 40 plus years of archery, but I do have a bow shop in my house.
I love fletching my own arrows , I find it relaxing and get great satisfaction when I finish :) ..... Bitzenberger here too .
C7, Yep have fetched my own for a few years. I i use a wrap that has the date season on it and if i harvest a buck and place that arrow across his rack
I've been cutting and fletching my own arrows for 5-6 years now.
I love doing it! |

I prefer it over the Bohning. I fletched a couple dozen arrows and they've all came out perfect, and it's so fast to do. I can load and lock all three arms in 30 seconds, hang it for a minute, and then start the next arrow. I'm still shooting the same arrows that I fletched within a few days of getting the jig, and the blazers have all held tight. |
They sell that same jig on bowhunterssuperstore.com fror $15 and $5 for shipping just in case anyone else is looking. your thread got me looking at them and thought, for the price I might as well give it a whirl. Ive always used an arizona easy fletcher, but thought I should expand my horizen. lol

I need to fletch a couple right nowLOL just came back from shooting.
just fletched mine last night. well i used nap quikfletch. love em but as all people who have fletched their arrows they all know stripping and scraping is the worst after that its easy lol
I have been doing it now for about 10 years. I do mine a quite a few friends. I always use wraps that way I don't spend much time scraping off glue. I just peel the wrap off and put on a new one and fletch. I enjoy it and my arrows are done the way i like them done, i have 3 bitz jigs 2 right and 1 left.
