Vanes
Okay I am going to buy some arrows pretty soon,
My question is "Which vanes are better for hunting with fixed broadheads" 4 inch vanes or 2 inch vanes. I would like to know the pros and cons of both. Anything would be helpfull. |
I use 2" Blazers on my Slick Tricks and love the setup.
|
I use 2" Blazers with both mechanical 2 -Blade Rage (100gr.) and fixed Muzzy MX-4's (100gr.) They fly just fine.
|
Definatly go with the two inch blazers, man. They fly so much straighter. Definetly the way to go!

IMHO there is nothing better for guiding broadhead tipped arrows than feathers, but if you are wanting to use vanes go with the 2" Blazers or Predator vanes.
They work very well! Dan |

Again, I have to agree with the above.... I've been preaching this for years... blazers, you can't beat them for arrow flight, durability, and dependability!
|
Thanks all for the input,
I am going to use 2 inch blazers with my slick trick broadheads. Once again thanks. ~Sam |
Have you ever tried to shoot feathers when they got wet from the rain and/or snow? They (feathers) are hard to get to fly straight to begin with.

Sounds cool though. :cool2: |
I shoot 4 inch AAE vanes. Never shot the 2" blazers yet but would like to try them out. Might pick up a pack of them to try out with so many people giving them the thumbs up.
I like the AAE's as they seem to be the most rugged vanes I have found. |

I recently checked my gear with a UV Black light and was really surprised to see how vividly the Blazer vanes glowed. Deer see UV light and I wonder if the glow of arrows (stationary or moving) would alert & set them off. My arrows with the VaneTec vanes did not glow. I'm thinking of refletching my hunting arrows with the VaneTecs.

Yes, I have. The fly just fine when wet. Wet feathers causing problems is a myth. Feathers also fly just fine even when missing sections. Feathers are not at all hard to get flying straight.

IMO,Feathers are more durable!
Feathers will come back to shape easier then a vane, Especially if ur shooting thru one of the capture rest like whisker biscuit etc. They will ripple a vane etc after a couple shots,But a feather will not ripple etc.and are more forgiving. To each his own... |

Do you know how much feathers are per 6 or 12 arrows?

I don't remember I just bought a hundred feathers last week, I think they were about 25 for a hundred. |
