Default Weird, strange,or unusual things you have seen, found,or heard while in the woods

Im sure there have been threads like this before but what the heck lets do it again. My story happened this past fall right around the middle of october. I was sitting in my climber waiting for daylight, it was still dark out. I was hunting about 300 yards or so from the gravel road i live on and i was about a quarter mile from the end of it, its a dead end road. Well i was sitting there and all of a sudden i hear what sounds like a car coming for the end of the road. I thought to myself, "that weird, nobody lives down there any more". Then all of a sudden a loud whoosh sound goes right over my head and as soon as it went over my head it was gone, no more sound. IDK what it was, it didnt sound like any plane ive ever heard and it sounded like it just above the trees. Weird stuff for sure. Anyway post up the unusual stuff that you have found, seen or heard. I hope to get some good replies to this.

On opening day of bowseason here in NY this year (Oct. 15) I was walking to my treestand in the dark. As i stepped off an old logging road into the field edge that housed my treestand, I saw something white in front of my treestand. I thought it was a tail (it was so dark I could BARELY see) and so I stopped. All of a sudden, there was a monsterous amount of sound in the woods around my stand as the white moved. Im talking small trees being snapped off and brush being TRAMPLED. Scared, and with my underwear slightly different in color I knew what it was that had scared me to death. COWS. A farm on the mountain had had about 10 duchess cows get out over the summer and become wild, and they had been roaming the mountain ever since. Lucky me, they took up residence under my stand that morning. It didn't deter the deer though, as I sadly missed later that morning with my Browing bow.
I've also had a yote attack a turkey decoy only a minute after my dad had set it up twenty yards in front of us in the field...... fun times boys, fun times........

My big scare happened one October morning while setting up my climber in the dark. While I was choosing a tree I heard something quietly rustling the leaves nearby. I figured it was a coon or a 'possum and I shone my little red light in its direction. Nothing there. I found a tree and started putting my Ol' Man on it, and kept hearing the noise. Once again, I looked in that direction with my light. Still nothing. Well my mind started playing tricks on me, and I got my stand strapped on quicker than usual and started up the tree at a sprint because I was sure that something was getting ready jump up and grab my boot laces or something. Remember when you were a kid and thought the monster would get you if you didn't run and jump and get under your blanket in time? That's the feeling I was starting to get! Well once I was up the tree and 'safe', I waited for daylight, still hearing that terrible creature slowly pacing in the leaves.

Once the sun came up, I witnessed the beast that was going to put me in an early grave. It was a small sassafras tree that was dropping its leaves early. The leaves were hitting the ground at a steady pace and that's the noise I was hearing.

That was almost as scary as the time the shadow of my bow from my flashlight 'jumped' out of a bush on the trailside and tried to attack me...

One frosty morning I climbed a tree with my climbing stand and waited for daylight. The morning was sunny and warming quickly. As it got warmer I noticed alot of flying insects, then I could hear alot of humming. Soon , yellow jackets were swarming all around, and I noticed them coming out of a hole in the tree, below me. I was trapped. Ended up I had to bail out of the stand without a parachute. I survived the jump, then had to get a very long branch to knock down the stand. Naturally the stand dropped right on the hole, and the bees chased me thru a cornfield. Waited for them to calm down and knocked the stand to the ground and got the he?? out of there. It was not a very good morning hunt, to say the least.

Wayne, i'd bet money what you heard was a small group of ducks or other fast flying birds.
A few years ago, twice in one week, i heard a doe make a barking sound that was exactly like the noise the veloco-raptors made on jurassic park. both times the does were very much in heat with a big buck within feet of them, id sure like to have that call

I ran across a guy dressed like Jesus Christ this October. It was on public land and he was doing some kind of photo shoot.

Every day out in the woods, I can hear my neighbors Tiger's, they are so loud you can feel the roar in your chest. These tigers are two miles away from our woods and they sound like they're next to you. Pretty amazing
