Peep Sight???

Is anyone shooting without a peep sight? I don' t mean with a NoPeep but just no peep sight at all. Are you still accurate? I tried this the other day with just a kisser and I seemed to be pretty accurate. I have heard that the problem may be day to day and in hunting clothes that may throw you off. Any imput????

RE: Peep Sight???

I personally use a peep but have a friend whose hunting set up has no peep. He uses two nock sets much like a rifle sight. It' seems very accurate, haven' t seen him miss yet!! And he says he gets another half to fulll hour shooting light?! When light fades enough to affect my peep I shoot down the shaft, much like Nugent. That' s how I learned to shoot to begin with and am accurate out to 35 yds.

RE: Peep Sight???

I' ve shot with only a kisser for 20 to 25 years, I really can' t remember when I made the change but it' s been a very long time:). I got a target bow recently and thought I' d go the whole nine yards and put in a peep also. I shot with it for about 2 weeks and practiced at all yardages out to 80 yards. I' d say the peep helped in general but past 50 yards I had to start coming off my kisser more and more as I moved back to 60, 70 and 80. At 80 yards I was still accurate but it felt like I had a floating anchor and started second guessing my form and slowly my accuracy started to suffer. I took the peep out and resighted the bow and I' m shooting almost as accurate at 80 as I was with the peep.
Shooting with no peep is not for everyone but for me I' m peepless for all my shooting:D Olympic archers do pretty good without them;)

RE: Peep Sight???

When I first started with my bow, I didn' t have a peep sight. My shooting was all over the target. Ever since I put one in, I have been able to keep pretty tight groups. Wouldn' t shoot without one.

RE: Peep Sight???

shot with a peep for about 2 years and did great (tight groups) but i shot with a mathews sq2 and couldn' t get the speed of the arrow past 230 so someone told me to shoot without anything on the string. So i tried it and the out come was 245 (as of last night) my groups are about 4" radius right now. I' m having a tough time finding my anchor point, but I' m going to stick to it and keep trying I believe the benefits are much better without peeps. If anyone can help me with my anchor point i would appreciate the feed back.

RE: Peep Sight???

I shot with a peep sight & kisser since I changed to shooting with a release from fingers! (Many years!) About 5 years ago I did away with the peep & learned to shoot with both eyes open. Never sorry for the change! I will not ever go back to the peep! I like the fact I can stay in stand till the last light & don' t have to worry about looking through the peep and everything going black! Just my opinion. I' ve naever had a problem with it. Just try it out & if it works for you great, & if you don' t like it fine. Whatever works for you! Good Luck!

The No-Peep is not a Peep Sight. it as an alignment device that attaches with or near your sight . . . there is nothing on the string. And it works great and can save as much as 5 fps over a peep.

RE: Peep Sight???

I use two kisser buttons for triangulation. I have no problem shooting tight groups at 30-40 yards. Fast getting on target and great in low-light (being peepless).

I do not know why I ever hunted using a peep sight, years past. I guess it was my fad days or succumbing to the propaganda that you cannot shoot as accurately without a peep as you can with one. I should have stopped and thought about the fact that I was already shooting very tight groups at 20-30 yards without a peep, without a kisser, and without a sight.

I shoot with both eyes open. Doing so allows me to have better depth-perception (height and yardage estimation); and to see all of what is front of me, not what can only be seen by one eye looking through a small hole.

In the end, the preference is an individual thing. However, if you allow yourself to be convinced that you cannot acquire excellent hunting accuracy without a peep, you won' t.
