rain gear dilema?
 

I was looking through the cabelas catalog for a good set of raingear. I am either going to get the Cabelas Rain Suede this summer or try to save up an extra 100 bucks for the MT050. All i need is something to keep my dry in the stand, i dont need extra insulation. Does anyone own these products? Advice appreciated!

this is my opinion on rain. if its downpouring i wont hunt or i will go home. there is a blood trail issue with heavy rain so i try to draw the line somewhere. in the early part of the season which is usually hot i would go with a light weight packable type camo. some are more noisey than others but i figure the rain is already making noise on trees and things so i would just get a set of 60$ packable type camo suit. you can also just but one of those strap on umbrella tree stand type things although kinda noisey i dont pay no mind sometimes its just nice to get out in the woods. another idea that im gonna try this year is to order this product called hunt dry which is a spray that is supposed to make anything waterproof and last quite a while.

I love my MT050. Have had it for five or six years and it is very durable and quiet. I can' t speak for the rain suede but I the saddle cloth before the MT050 and it is definately an improvement. The saddle cloth, in comparison, holds water on the outside. It gets heavy and stays that way until it completely dries out. This can become a problem when away from home and a place to dry the stuff out. I don' t know if the rain suede is like that but my guess would be that it would hold a lot of water. The MT050 just needs a good shake and it feels dry. Worth the extra $$ IMO.

Go with the browning pac-light gore-tex it' s light weight very quiet and I also use mine as a light jacket when it' s not raining gore-tex stops the wind as well as the rain

I' ve worn Cabela' s MTO50 for several years now and
though I wear it mainly in the spring while turkey
hunting, it has come in handy a few times while
bowhunting in the fall. It' s definitely quality rain
gear[:-].

Will the Cabelas Rain Suede hold up even in downpours? And how much does the browning rain gear go for?

i have been looking to get the cabelas mt050 on clearance and have had a heck of a time finding it in my size when they run the ads for clearance. it must be good stuff. seems like i must just have to shell out the full price. i have' nt heard anything negative about it except for the price.

midwest hunter, I gave $130 for my jacket and $150 for the bib bottoms in the browning pac-light so it ain' t cheap but have sat in downpours and stayed bone dry it' s well worth the money

I PURCHASED A SET OF THE MT050 A FEW YEARS AGO WENT SLUG HUNTING AND IT ABSOLUTELY POURED AND I DID NOT GET WET AT ALL.IT LASTED FOR ALMOST THREE STRAIGHT DAYS.ITS WELL WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY

Heck, if it' s warm enough outside where I don' t need insulation, I just get wet. :) Nothing more satisfying to me than sitting in the elements waiting for a deer.
