Are you an archer or a bowhunter?

I'm a bowhunter that needs to be proficient enough to take game at the distances I choose to. My archery skills would allow me to take shots farther than my bowhunter mentality will actually let me.

Archery makes a foundation for bow hunting. However, archery has a few more categories than bow hunting. I use archery for meat, thus making me a bow hunter. I don't target shoot anything except to check my sights now and then.

By far this best post I have seen on this site in a while, thanks to the OP for posting the question.
I'm a hunter who picked up a bow because gun hunting was no longer satisfying for me. I am slowly getting involved with the target side of archery but only with my hunting rig. My experiences with target archers have given me valuable tools to make me a better archer but...
the adrenalin rush of having a live animal in the sight window as opposed to a target, will always have me saying I am a bowhunter.
