Is it me or are broadheads getting ridiculous?

The broadhead companies are looking for a way to stand out above the competition an get a bigger slice of the pie. Thats the goal each year is come out with something different to look at an buy.
I feel like you should find a good broadhead that works for you regardless of what it is an stick with it. Be good, with what you use an do not depend on the product to do the work for you. The only time I change is when a product does not seem to perform like it should for me.

I've shot quite a few heads on the market and have actually had luck with everyone i have shot. I just prefer some over others. I first started with muzzy 4 blades that i shot for a long time. I then went to the G5 Montec and had success with them. I got on the Rage kick after that and i had success but was very disappointed with the quality. Rage is deffinately overpriced for the quality you get. There should be no argument on that. I then went to the slick trick this year. I like the slick tricks but i bought some G5 strikers and it my favorite BH on the market. I also have Tekans to that im going to try.

Cutting diameter comes at the expense of penetration, especially if you hit the shoulder blade.
I'll stick with my Thunderheads. I tried expandables and a couple other novelties and was left wishing I'd just stuck with the Thunderheads all along. No problem penetrating the shoulder, plenty of width to get the job done.

Question:
Why do you shoot the head you currently shoot......in lieu of a 3/4" cutting diameter BH?
Answer:
Because you CAN.
No different than with any size head....IF you "can". The problem lies in those who don't know if they can or not.....and do, anyway.

Our broadheads have to be at least 7/8" wide.

Exactly! Most states have regs that cover this
One thing you want to remember, there are several outfitters in the US & Canada that will Not allow the use of mechanicals. Who sees more kills and wounds for that matter than someone who guides large numbers of hunters every year?
I know of No outfitters that won't let you use a fixed blade broadhead.
Something to think about!!

That made me laugh. Not sure why, just found it funny.
I think I am in agreement with the "can" part of your statement too. Before Rage really came on the scene, I could count on 0 fingers the guys I knew that were shooting 2" heads. There were heads out there, but just not with the advertising $ that Rage has poured into that product. Now that people know about Rage heads, and CAN shoot them, they do.

I know you are going to say money but why are all the hunters that bowhunt for a living (pay the bills) using expandables and most are using rear opening expandables?
This is their livlihood and if it didn't work they certainly wouldn't be using it.
Here's a good example: The Bone Collectors are shooting G5 heads which have fixed and expandables but I almost always see them shooting the Tekkan (expandable). Hummmmm?
