I understand we can as well.
Pretty sure we have to wear orange though

SuperRedHawk 01-10-2010 05:36 PM

Yep, archery is open. And you do have to wear orange, even if your county is'nt included in the late antlerless season, which stinks :s8:

IL-Cornfed 01-10-2010 06:02 PM

Yep, IL changed its Regs so that Bowhuntes can hunt right up til' the very end this season. As mentioned, don't forget the blaze Orange though.

ok thanks for confirming guys, i just wanted to make sure
cant wait to put on orange but it beats staying home

The United Bowhunters of Illinois was founded in 1995 to represent the interests of Illinois bowhunters while promoting outdoor ethics and values. We are an organization founded on the principle that “more does not necessarily mean better.” In building the UBI, the founders felt that in order to have credibility with the IDNR, other hunting groups, and the non-hunting public it would be necessary to maintain a high level of quality within the membership. We look for members that are willing to get involved to protect and promote bowhunting in Illinois.

The UBI was not established to be a large state bowhunting organization, just a very active and dedicated one. Our selective membership policy allows us to add members whose bowhunting philosophies and goals are consistent with the organization's.

As long as they are traditional bowhunters correct ?
Not much love for compound thingy (as most UBI members like to call them) bowhunters in UBI.

I said most not all.

Are you saying they only allow Traditional Bowhunters?

UBI--never heard of them

I'd love to see the ubi lobby for a Sept. 15 archery opener in illinois! maybe we could start a petition and get the ball rolling

I agree, NO here as well!

Anyone going out this weekend with the bow? I'll be out at least Fri, Sat and Sun. Not crazy about the blaze orange, but the weather should be decent, and maybe I can bag another deer for the freezer.

I dont think anything from the site comes straight out and says that but take a look and also read there forum it's obvious some of them have a very strong dislike or even hate for compound bows &/or compound bowhunters.

I dont know where the United part comes in ?

Dont get me wrong there are some good guys in UBI that will do what they think is best or right for all bowhunting in IL but some will only do whats best for them &/or tradition bowhunting in IL.

This is just my opinion I'm sure others will disagree with me.

That unfortunately is a Huge problem within hunting. Gun hunters against Bowhunters, and vice versa. Traditionalists against compound users and vice versa, cross bow hunters, etc., etc., and on and on. Guess it will never change. It seems the name of their organization is a little misleading. United Bowhunters??:rolleye0011:

I can assure you guys... the UBI does NOT think to higly of compound shooters! I known a few of their members and they are purists who think the modern compound and accessories hve ruined the sport! Several of their members are VERY vocal about their stance. There is no "united" about them!

Sad but 100% true.

I'm a former UBI member.

Ouch! I'm a life member. But I have to agree with that. I lobbied hard to keep them from going all trad at the last banquet. :nonono2:

 Now most of the folks I hunt with couldn't join if they wanted to. And those that could don't want to. And I gotta say, I don't blame them a bit.

Just know that everyone in the group does not share that oppinion. When I joined many years ago, it wasn't like that.
