IF you want to take a mature deer, then let's share your posts on how you can age a deer especially in late season when the coats are thick. Here are my suggestions: distance from eye to nose will help you pick the largest also, look at the sagging bellies. This is a pretty good site: http://www.1atexasdeerhunting.com/bodyagingdeer.htm

Good luck!

Have shot a couple and don't worry about it - though try not to.
I would shoot one intentionaly if it still had spots - want one for a full body mount.

We have a very high antlerless limit here, and I don't trophy hunt. Dumb and tatsty is hard to pass up.

I'm with the guy who mentioned earn a buck programs. I have shot two when I had only a week to hunt. I was already three days into my hunt and hadn't gotten any good shots at does. In order to "start" my hunting, I needed to get an antlerless on the ground, so there was really no choice in my mind. I didn't feel bad about it at all.
