pendulum sights
 

I started with one, my Dad bought it because I wasnt great at guessing distance and to poor to buy a rangefinder. It worked really good 30-35 yards and closer. I dont know about off the ground, never tried it.

i have been using them since 1997 and have had no problems with them. My first was a Keller Pendulum. It worked fine but it was not accurate on the ground. The one i use now is from Vital Gear. It works great on the ground out to 20 to 25 yards and out to about 37 yards in the tree.

I have shot a pendulum site for over 20 yrs, really love them. Most of that time it had been a keller but this past summer I bought a Trophy Ridge Mantis with v-drive. It has alot more options for shooting on the ground. They no longer make this site but you can usually find them on Ebay, that's where I got mine, or some other auction sites on the web.

I tried one for a year, and while I am sure they work I just had No confidence in my sight pin moving without me being the one moving it.:wink: I like a single pin sight but prefer the HHA rear sliders.

With most setups I use it makes little difference out to 30 yards anyway.

i used a keller for the first 9 years of my bowhunting career, and it worked great

note, it also has a setting for ground hunting, where you lock the site in for specific distances, it is a gear wheel with numbers 1-4 on it...you lock in the site for number 2, that is 20 yards, etc. the problem, you must constantly loosen the screw that holds the gear wheel in place if something is outside of that number.

i did take a nice buck and two doe on the ground with it, as well as a number of deer "up high" out to 30 yards, the difficulty on one was the angle as he was above me, and the arrow hit high and spined him, despite holding behind the "elbow" or "point" as i call it of the shoulder
