String and Cable replacement

i have a bear compound bow that hasnt been shot in about 10 years--its in great condition but should i replace the string-cable or both before i shot it again ???

Is it an absolute? Probably not but most likely recommended. If you have a quality shop to look it over, unless your comfortable looking it over yourself of course. Check the bow for factory settings, ie the brace height, tiller, poundage etc.. to see if the string/cables have crept. (stretched).

Check for broken fibers in the string/cables themselves and a really good waxing would be in order if you decide to not replace them.

Definitely get that thing changed! It is an accident waiting to happen.

I would recommend changing both. I just installed a set of Vapor Trails string/cable on a friends bow and they are excellent quality for a very reasonable price. You can also Google Bucknasty strings for a an excellent set of custom strings.

You probably have to do a little research to get the correct lengths - unless they are marked on your riser/limbs.
