Great post......I' ll be interested in the responses. I' ve been using Gateway' s and like them a lot. They' re holding up good with a Wisker Bisket rest.

I really want to try the new bronze barred Tru-flights , but I' m having trouble finding where to buy them.

As far as performance I doupt you will see any real difference.

But Trueflights are a much better quality fletch. The main difference is in the way the bases are ground.

Rack is spot on!

I' ve used both brands over the years.

The main difference I see is in the bases: Gateway bases vary quite a bit...Some are very narrow at the tail end, some very narrow at the front end, some are tall, some are short...

This doesn' t affect flight, but it makes them a little harder to fletch,as you set your Jig' s offset or helical using one particular feather' s base as a guide and only a third of them are actually shaped like that. If you are anal about how your arrows look (glue lines) and need precise fletch clearance (i' ve gone back to non-drop away rests), this can mess with you, cause the spacing will be a bit off on every arrow.

The true-flight feathers have much more precision ground bases, are much more uniform in height, seem a bit less stiff, and have a more streamlined profile that seems to make for a bit less noise, though it' s hardly significant.

The Gateways do seem to hold their color (dye) a bit better if you leave arrows outside in a target or whatnot.

Myvote goes to true-flight w/out a doubt if one has a choice.

I really like the tru-flight feathers. Like the others have said, the bases are ground different. They set up on my jo-jan great. You' ll like them.

I prefer the Tru-flights.I think the quill is heavier and stiffer on the Gateways.I do like the colors of the Gateways better,though-especially the camo patterned ones.
