Summit Cobra XLS how good ist it?
#1
I just ordered a Summit cobra XLS. At 17 pounds it is the lightest stand that I can find yet still look comfortable enough for those long hours in the stand. Have you ever had one, or a friend have one? How was it? Was it worth it? I paid $221.70 with tax and shipping and handling.
Is it comfortable? Is it quiet? Easy to climb?

i hav one ive had it for probably 2-3 years now and i love it, its light weight and comfortable to sit in and its been sat in aloooot so i know its comfortable you just have to do some fine tuneing with all the adjustment straps till you get it the way you like it then your set it climbs pretty quiet quieter then most of my friends stands the shrink tubeing they put over the cables is peeling in a few spots but from what the instructions say its not a problem and if i want i can order more tubeing from them and its a real sturdy stand to i feel safe standing on the platform and all my only compalints are i wish it had some sort of handles or grips to hold on to on the seat part for when your climbing up the tree you have to kind of grip the armrest and all its kind of aquard and a little uncomfortable nothing bad ive gotten use to it but i just think it would be a little easier with some sort of handle sticking out the ends and problem #2 they may have fixed by now is the safety belt they included with the stand its nothing more then a giant nylon belt you loop it around the tree and you loop it around your waist i supose it would work just fine if you fell but it would probably hurt alot to since its just around your waist but new safty straps are cheap so thats no major problem either but its really is a nice stand and im very happy with it and i would be happy to recommend it to anyone

Thundermug, you won' t regret your choice of stands. I' ve had a cobra xl now for 3 years, and it has it all. lightweight, quick set-up, fast climber, fairly quiet when climbin, sturdy, and the biggie for me comfortable. mine has the air chushion seat and back rest. your' s probly has the foam cushion, both are very confortable!
you' ll love it. I use my forearms to climb with, very easy. a full safety harness will come with your climber also.

mine has the foam seat with some sort of heating cloth or something but its very very comfortable ive never tried the one with the air seat but it looks nice too the foam on mine is probably 2" thick and since its suspended with straps its very soft and comfy and like bo i use my forearms to climb it took me some getting use to and a little practice to perfect the technique though but i love my stand and i think you`ll be happy with your purchase

I was debating on between the Cobra and the Revolution. I like the light weight of the Cobra as well as the open front end for unobstructed bowhunting movement but decided to go with the Revolution as its design lends itself to even more comfort for extended stays on stand. I think either would be a good choice.

I can' t tell you right now, but I will tell you when I get mine a little closer to season. I absolutely love my Summit Bushmaster but it is getting a little dated. I was looking at the other stands, the Viper, The Python, the Revolution, ect.... but, the Cobra XLS has such a promising look of comfort, and for 17 pounds!!!!! I was looking at the new fold down models, but, they havn' t lowered the weight enough, [:' (] 21 pounds is a good bit more than what I want to carry into the woods. Give me 17 pounds and under and I am one happy little boy
I walk to all of my hunting areas, from the time I leave my front door till the time I am climbing my tree, I am walking with a stand on my back, and that is why I like to have a light stand. Sometimes I may only walk 220 yards till I am in my property, sometimes I am walking well over a mile.

Buck, I bought mine from www.biggameproshop.com for $221.70 yesterday. Today I got an email telling me I will be getting it on Wednesday or Thursday. This weekend I' ll be in the backyard and try it without reading any of the instructions to see how easy it is. Then I' l read the instruction sheet to see if these really are simple. I will give a complete report, including how long it takes to setup straight from the box.

Awsome thundermug,
I can' t wait to read the report. If it is anything like my Bushmaster, it will take about 2 minutes to put it on the tree and start climbing.
