Carbon Matrix 1600 bucks....

IL-Cornfed 12-11-2009 08:11 PM

LOL! Yep, I'll have to agree the 1,600 bones they want for the Carbon Hoyt is a bit crazy!!! It's an awesome bow.... just not $1,600 worth of awesomeness!!!

BOWHUNTERCOP 12-11-2009 10:18 PM

yes that new Hoyt way over priced

cartman308 12-12-2009 02:01 AM

As long as they are selling none of them are overpriced. But personally I agree, the Carbon Matrix is overpriced. But then again, they are selling.

The Carbon Matrix also wins the ugliest bow contest as well....PUKE!!!

AR Bowhunter 12-12-2009 03:24 AM

What were they thinking when they made that thing!!??

JeffB 12-12-2009 03:34 AM

Considering the technology that is in the Carbon Matrix, and how the thing feels at the shot- I don't think it's overpriced at all. This is not like anything ever done before-nothing like the old "carbon" bows from HCA filled with structural foam, or the equally craptacular model from PSE. Its totally new (and NOT cheap) technology for the archery industry. May not be worth the $ to everyone, but definitely not overpriced.

It IS pretty ugly- but I thought in person it looked much better than in the pics I've seen- the camo model in particular. After shooting it, I can get over the looks.

As for the original question- there are a number of companies who charge premium prices for not so premium materials and design.

Over priced? IMO, all of them. Bow prices have gotten so far out of hand in recent years. I'm sorry, but 800 dollars for a bow is ridiculous. Not long ago, I paid 575 for a new Hoyt Cybertec. Since then, they've gone up close to 40 per year. Now, we're at a point where 800 is acceptable. But, we keep buying them, so they'll keep raising the prices until they find the consumers breaking point.

Personally, I think the Mathews Z7 wins the ugly contest. It may be a sweet shooter, but boy is it fugly. And yes, $1600 for any bow is a friggen joke!

I shot the CM and really wasn't impressed. I have never been a hoyt fan so I will admit it may just have a "tough hill to climb" with me. That being said its just like when a new car comes out the first year. The price will be thru the roof for a few years until they streamline the technology and the price comes down. I think that its a technology is going to be put more into bows of the future.
Now the z7 on the other hand, I must disagree, compared to the CM... it's just downright SEXY!

krabbiepatty 12-12-2009 07:03 AM

i bought my son a z7 for christmas. i think they are sweet and as soon as i can sell my xt i plan on getting one as well. that is, if they have any. they are selling as quickly as they come in at my local archery shop.
