Unreal Monster

This buck doesn't seem real but just might be. My friend sent me this picture and said it was harvested in Illinois this year.

rogerstv 11-24-2009 09:38 AM

Nope not real. WTF?

No supporting evidence, but I gotta agree that is not real.

glew22 11-24-2009 09:53 AM

I'm gonna go out on a limb here but I think it looks legitimate

BrentH243 11-24-2009 01:56 PM

That looks like Alan Trammell and Jake Delhomme! Something isn't right with this picture...I'd have to assume the mass on those antlers make it weigh a ridiculous amount, making it too hard to hold upright without leaning the antlers on your body and making it look as effortlessly as this guy is doing.

Antler Eater 11-24-2009 03:36 PM

Certainly could be real...By the way they gutted it I would say a full body mount might be in it's future....

Kelly/KY 11-24-2009 04:50 PM

I'd like to believe it's legit...but anything that big just makes you think. Time will tell.

BOWHUNTER818 11-24-2009 05:27 PM

Looks real to me..

Brent if you look closely the guy holding the antlers is holding them his knees too..Looks ligit..

i dont think its real you would be having to hold the antlers up with both hands not be using a thumb and a couple fingers on the other hand.........

but if it is real congrats to the people who shot it

That deer has too small of a body or neck to support a rack like that! Dont you think it would be an older more developed deer if it were real.

ggc1962 11-25-2009 04:25 AM

i heard that this buck was a deer that was farm raised. i seen pics of this elsewhere and believe its a farm raised deer that had died.

This I believe. I have serious doubts that this buck was free ranging. Someone, somewhere would have to have seen it and look at the body size. That deer looks to be no older than 3.5 at the oldest. It is very typical for farm raised deer to have huge headgear and small bodies.

As for the pic, it looks pretty legit. You can see the guy is using his legs to support the head and there looks to be something under its neck supporting that as well.

I'd certainly like to hear more about this deer even if it is farm raised. It is an incredible animal.

rogerstv 11-25-2009 05:31 AM

Not an Illinois buck because of body size. Any Illinois deer with a set of antlers like that would be much larger in body. That's a southern deer body with a photo shop rack. (IMO)

I understand it is gutted.

Sorry to the hunters if I am incorrect. It would be a first. Haha.

passthru79 11-25-2009 08:42 AM

Looks more like a texas deer with the body being that small. If that buck came from illinois the body size is comparable to most 2.5 year old bucks ive seen, and 2.5 year load deer dont get racks like that in the wild. I would say it is a pen raised deer.

halfbakedi420 11-25-2009 08:57 AM

it looks like a real deer...when the deers' testes get "messed up", it will cause the deer not to shed its antlers and continue to grow every year, on top or below the last set...aka a cactus buck!

piketon_hunter#9 11-25-2009 09:46 AM

body looks too small to be real... and its hard to tell where points on the rack are coming from..

that is my first thoughts..

Even odder is that ppl havent seen this pic before. Normally by now that deer would have been killed in 7 different states by someones 'cousins, sisters, half brother'... lol

the Problem with that theory is that I can only see onset of main beams on this deer. Oall of the extra junk seems to originate from those 2 beams indicating that it was one years worth of growth aided with growth hormones and steroids in a farm.

RE:

A fake and a very poor one. The two guys are not in the picture with the deer, nor is the deers head or antlers. Photoshop.

i can see that...still in the air for me...does snopes do pics?

MichaelP 11-26-2009 05:48 PM

Check out some of the deer farm websites if you question the small body and huge rack. 2.5's with 250" of bone are common place on the farms. I am unsure about this deer, but if it was pen raised and shot that way then it could definatly be a legit deer.

sharpizzio 11-27-2009 04:56 AM

My guess................... if it is real, it cost the guy $25,000 to shoot it behind a high fence!

mossberghunter93 11-27-2009 05:36 AM

WTF, idk maybe haha, actually I call BS.

randyshunting 11-27-2009 09:16 AM

The guy is holding most of the weight of the head up with his knees so that part looks fine but it sure seems that the deers neck and body would be bigger. Hard to say but I hope he is real and he will make the magazines if he is. I will guess that he is. Where did the rack come from if he wasnt? That would be alot of work for a hoax!!

KS227 11-28-2009 06:07 PM

100% photo shop. You could only hold a small rack like that. Look at the shadows... on the left of the chest and on the right of the antlers.

That's exactly what I was thinking. A deer that size in the midwest would probably have a spike to six pts.

WIbuckchaser 11-28-2009 06:22 PM

Another thing is, usually an animal like that you get pics of all angles. If I shot one like that I would post every angle possible. No I take that back, I wouldn't have to because every hunting magazine known to man would.

hoyt_user 11-28-2009 08:20 PM

no way !! to big of antlers for that small of a body
