dyb3and88 11-18-2009 08:42 AM

no question, he would be on the wall.

Canuck33 11-18-2009 08:53 AM

115-120 should be close

Jordan Bozarth 11-18-2009 08:54 AM

o yea a wall hanger

YooperMike 11-18-2009 09:27 AM

115 or so, not on my wall, euro mount probably.

KCMO Cityboy 11-18-2009 09:51 AM

Uh, where else would you put it? :)

nick_bleuer76 11-18-2009 10:12 AM

120ish I would guess

IOWAWHITETAILS 11-18-2009 10:46 AM

I did my first tape test came up with 107.......I dont think i did it right ...lol

MILLERTIME10 11-18-2009 11:00 AM

I would say 105-110", nice deer but I would just Euro him and then put him on the wall.

IOWAWHITETAILS 11-18-2009 11:05 AM

thats what he's thinking miller!!

The Deer Destroyer 11-18-2009 11:54 AM

I would do a skull mount. Nice one.

i'm going at 105-110" good buck, if i were not going to mount it i'd do a euro, as far as your measure i'd say your close, hardest thing for me was main beam lenght from the "straight-on" pics but i gave it 21" main beams and 8" g2's and 3's

a shooter in my book with bow:s4:

John Deer 11-18-2009 12:50 PM

I'd guess him around 105-110"

NCRemington700 11-18-2009 01:02 PM

He would score a ride in the back of my truck all the way to the taxidermist.

fingerz42 11-18-2009 02:39 PM

115..

In PA I'd pry get it mounted, especially if I had any sort of history with the buck. (although I don't have the money for it right now hahha)

RidgeFACTOR 11-18-2009 02:56 PM

Nice buck buddy.

IOWAWHITETAILS 11-18-2009 06:24 PM

thanks guys ended up doing a upright mount too make it look bigger!! Its not the biggest.....but it's a bow kill and thats all that counts...;) thanks for replys IA

ahunter55 11-18-2009 07:04 PM

Nothing like a decent Buck Mount OR even a small Buck. It's whatever a fellow wants. I have some smaller than that mounted but I really don't worry about the other fella. To each his own.
Nice Deer, congrats...

WIbuckchaser 11-18-2009 07:14 PM

Close to 120.

TeeJay 11-19-2009 05:43 AM

Congrats to the hunter, but its not worth $450 to me.

wow keeps getting lower....and $450 is alot for a mount I only pay $300....thanks for replys

zubba 11-19-2009 11:54 AM

I would put him on the wall. But then again, I'm a taxidermist...lol.

TeeJay 11-19-2009 11:58 AM

Take him in then. A job well done is around $450 in this neck of the woods.I do believe you put the tape to him, thought you said 107". Whatever different strokes for different folks.

TeeJay 11-19-2009 12:27 PM

No need for the number slick. I work with a local guy. BTW Deweys price is $468 tax included I do think that is going to be pretty close to a average across the board. Tell your boy he is leaving a pair of C notes on the table for every mount. Now is this your buck or your buddies? 107" on a IA buck. Going to look a bit out of place at a texadermy shop in IA, isnt it?. JMHO None the less congrats again on the hunt.

563andy1983 11-19-2009 12:36 PM

I wouldnt even ask these dicks. Just mount it.

zubba 11-19-2009 12:45 PM

That is the problem TeeJay, $280 is on the low end for the Dubuque area but $300 is still only about the average. Across the river in Wisconsin, $400 is about average. I don't know why it is like that in Dubuque. Thankfully the majority of my work comes from Wisconsin...since that is where I'm originally from. But my Iowa and Illinois heads really are picking up. People aren't afraid to pay for quality. I don't know Brandon Post personally, but I feel he is selling himself short. I've seen some of his mounts and compared to other taxidermist in Dubuque, he is towards the top...yet he is one of the cheapest.

halfbakedi420 11-19-2009 12:48 PM

if it means sumthin to ya..mount it...400-550 is chump change fer sumthin that means sumthin

563andy1983 11-19-2009 01:00 PM

280 for a great mount and back to ya in 3 months. Its doesnt get better than that,I feel sorry for the guys paying 4 and 5 hundred for a mount that takes a year to get back....LOL

TeeJay 11-19-2009 01:01 PM

For about the fourth time congrats to the hunter. Zubba if you guys are that cheap on a shoulder mt. Whats a 42" pike go for? I took one of them in this fall also.
