Depends on what part of the state you hunt, the further East you go they have less agriculture and more trees and their body size is smaller. The further North and West you go the bigger the body size because of all the corn, milo, wheat, etc. In the NW part of the state it is not uncommon to get a deer to dress out over 200 lbs. I hunt in central Oklahoma and a mature buck typically dresses out between 160-180 lbs occasionally reaching the 200 lb mark. Nice deer and congrats to him!! |
Awesome buck, congrats
|
Awesome buck!!!!! Nice job!!!!!
|
Great deer! I bet that thing looked like a 220" deer with that body size! I hunt in Central Oklahoma and Eastern Oklahoma and its crazy how much smaller body wise the ones on the eastern side of the state are. Most of the deer we shoot in eastern OK only dress about 125-150lbs and in the central part they are always over 170 dressed.

Man that's one heck of a buck. Did he kill it around Tahlequah or was it closer to Peggs or Locust Grove? I hunt both Mayes and Cherokee county and there are some real dandies being killed this year in both counties.

I've got some family in Hulbert. They kill some nice deer around there from time to time. You know that it's pretty secluded out there in that area.
